Balmoral and Dover

I'll post some picks for these two tracks and use a $20 wp to track the results. All picks based on trip, positive barn, post, or driveer change. Plus horse making a 2nd or 3rd or 4th start after a layoff that looks to be on the upswing. Dover's long meet starts soon. (Nov 4th)

As with Ray's daily offerings as well, I "always" enjoy seeing what some other good capper has to say about any particular upcoming race on the "Dark Side" of racing......

Also Mel, thx for the heads up on Pandy's 5/8ths article, as I somehow missed that one....He spelled it out it quite well about those tracks, and I wouldn't change one thing about any of his views concerning each of those places...Except for DD, which just gets too stale (not unlike YR) for me after awhile, the rest of them, is where I spend most of my time & money..

I have been foraying to Balmoral myself a bit more lately than I have in the more recent past (you know, too many mystery outcomes), but these days I will occasionally come up with a thing or two that is worth the risk, and they have been connecting here and there for me...I like Balmoral shippers that are in good shape when they ship east....I have found that getting at their true class, that is, if they are Chicago based, by doubling their earnings $$, will most times, give you a better indication of where any of those particular horses's class may lie...I have made some nice hits using that clue...Not a lot of them shipping tho...

Feel free to jump in with any of your picks on these two track LK. Have to pick your spots at Dover with a heavy lean (at least for me) on trip handicapping. Also like using the 9 hole trailer at Dover. Really like Balmoral, no speed bias, no real post bias and no super trainers with 30% or more winners. No dominant driver. John keep an eye on trainer Roger Welsh out at Balmoral. Don't think he is a big name does not start a ton of horses but enough to be very interesting. Have done very well with his stock. Balmoral's Eric Carlson shipped some to Chester but I don't think he is doing to well. One other postive thing about Dover is you have some very nice stock racing there and they have a lot of days of racing with lots of races on each card. Makes it a little better to pick and choose.

John as you know from my many selection posts in the past my goal is not to pick low paying horses. Sometimes it just comes out that way. Of the four picks only one R9 the 6 was a program pick. Even that one I did not expect to get hammered the way it did. Thankfully it works the other way sometimes. Had one last week at Monticello I expected to be 3 or 4 to 1 at best. Paid almost $20. The place finisher in that R9 at BLMP made my watch list with a big effort against a very strong horse. Went head to head and hoof to hoof :) for quite a while before giving way.

Ray I'm just hoping my house holds on in the next few days. This storm looks mean. Power outages may be common around here. Had a good run for the money on Saturday but an otb and a 3rd at big odds.

Could have been a lot worse Ray. Bristol Township is not that far away from me. National Guard troops called out to help the local police. Major damage from falling trees on houses. My prayers and good wishes to them and the people along the Jersey Shore. The shore will never be the same Ray even with big bucks being spent to rebuild. The 59th street fishing pier is no more. Thank goodness at least most of the Ocean City boardwalk and the beloved Music Pier look like they will be OK.

Mel, thx to you :ThmbUp:, I now have a renewed and rekindled interest in BmP.....On a couple of your nice wins, I was aboard with you, as they were my kind of races, and they fit my profile for that type of race/situation....I am beginning to understand your style of play more and more....I think you know what you are doing, haha!....

A few years back, I had abandoned playing there, what with all the Scams and all that were going on there....But, in reality, my style of handicapping just wasn't as well suited to the game there then, as it is nowadays.....I see things with much more clarity there now....In fact, a couple of months before they closed up, I was beginning to do well at Indy, as well....Whereas I could never get better than even before these more recent times....I am looking forward to more from those venues....I'm finally getting the hang of Tioga too...

LK--Glad your looking at Balmoral again. They offer the off the pace types a real chance. So many tracks where you must have early speed. Nice overlay on OTB Sandy last night. Line maker had him at 5-1 I was thinking fair odds of between 5-1 and 8-1 got 14-1 instead, and on a Robot top pick. :lol: Also I know exactly what you mean about posting so far in advance and not knowing post time odds. Some of my 8-1 line horses turn into 8-5 horses. Ya just never know.
