I have one rule: I don't want to follow those that have already issued 10,000 or more tweets because they will clog up the feed. Might make an occasional exception, maybe for somebody like Adam Schefter.

@AceofSpadesHQ and @iowahawkblog are two of my favorites. both of them combine politics, biting wit and comedy snark.

@NumbersMuncher follows the polls and releases updates and key facts as they are released. helpful right about now.

Twitter is symbolic with idiocy and the digital world's demand that their idiocy be publicized to the hoi polloi.

There is no equivalent to E=MC2 in the first Trillion twits... err tweets... and there never will be!

It's not mandatory to follow the idiots.

It's the best platform to hit the net in ten years

If you filter out the noise and the teenagers, it can be a ton of fun. It's very much like the war room, but you get to pick who gets in the room.

It can be very revealing and a great way to meet people, or at least follow them much like here. It's just like the rest of the net. It has porn, news, opinion and interaction. Where it is different is the instantaneous nature of the info.

During the debates it was great to read ongoing comments from both sides during the debate. Sports events are enhanced by participating in ongoing comments etc.

It feeds into the 2nd screen movement for watching television. I find it very enjoyable. Very informative. I actually have watched a few Tv shows while actors were tweeting about shooting certain scenes, while the show was in commercial.

A Nascar driver actually tweeted during a race caution, from the car. He had his phone in the car.

The 2nd screen movement is lots of fun. Twitter and some other things like Nascar Race Buddy make it fun. Some shows and movies are now coming out with their own apps for use when watching.

Twitter is just a faster based version of this board in many ways

I agree fully.
There is a load of good racing banter on Twitter.
Some not so good, too, but you can filter that out.

My kids couldn't get over the fact that I use Twitter, especially when I have avoided Facebook like the plague for years.

I know you Rookies bet on sports. Anyone who bets on sports and doesn't use Twitter, is behind the curve.

Actually, I hardly ever bet on sports. Used to, but enjoy racing so much more.
I can see where it would be useful for anyone that does, though.
@tahoepete27 - currently have 280 follows and 52 followers.
Over 90% is horse racing related.

I don't even turn my cell on half the time.
I have no desire to follow anyone.
I've made all of about three tweets myself.

Jim:

The fact that everyone who posts a tweet is not an idiot has nothing to do with my point. Rather, it's the limitation of the platform to allow anything profound in a defined number of characters.

To each his own, by I don't have the time to either, sort out all the gibberish from the very, very few diamonds, or provide an intelligent reponse to the few.

I really don't even understand it, so I've never tried to use it. But I'd probably find a way to like it if I did.

I caught a link to Chantals retirement interview at Woodbine via "goatzapper" racing site via twitter this afternoon.
