"I don't always listen to Mexican music...

But when I do, it's because my Mexican neighbors are drunk and playing that shit at 2am."

The thing about that Ranchero music is that it SUCKS. Accordions a tuba and some oom papa? If I wanted that, I'd hang out listening to polka.

That's what that is. Polka with cowboy hats. :D

Funny they don't tire of that crap. Every song sounds the same.

It's actually the perfect get-blind-out-of your-mind-drunk, music.

Which makes it the absolutely worst when-you're-sober-and-want-nothing-better-than-to-go-to-sleep, music.

Sometime I'll tell the story of how I came to hate, love & respect my next-door Mexican neighbors. A welcome to El Barrio tome.

On a tangent: I love good music no matter what flavor. That includes mariachi. Rancho-style, not so much.

I've lived in San Diego for a long time and have eaten at a lot of different Mexican style eateries. Some have strolling mariachi's, and, one place in particular has had the same singer for about as long as I can remember.

The last time at that place (my brothers birthday) I asked the gentleman to sing his favorite song, sort of a request in reverse. What did he sing? A Frank Sinatra song!

Adios.

He once ran in a marathon because it was on his way.
His mother has his name tatooed on her arm.
National policy is set after small talk with him.

He once went to a Stones concert but Mick and the boys sat down to listen to him instead.

The mariachis would serenade,
And they would not shut up 'til they were paid.
We ate, we drank, and we were merry,
And we got typhoid and dysentery.

Love it :D

He is fluent in all languages, including three that he only speaks.
When he drives a new car off the lot, it increases in value.
Even his enemies list him as their emergency contact number.
At museums he's allowed to touch the art.
