This guy is one of my personal idols. Love the guy for the entire package. Including escaping from the Nazi's and working his way back via the French resistance.
The guy was flying an F-15 yesterday at 89 yrs old. Anniversary of him breaking the sound barrier. Years ago had the pleasure of saluting him at George AFB while working Air Show as a military cop. Great memory. He grew up with a couple of my uncles as acquaintances and rival high school basketball players.
