Race One:

Maiden-special state-bred sprint. I like :6: Reaching Out. The son of Big Brown (Big Brown won the first two legs of The Triple Crown in 2008; he was 1-to-5 going in to the Preakness and did not disappoint). Well, Big Brown won at first asking at Saratoga in early Sept., 2007. In fact, he reeled off three straight before winning the Kentucky Derby. If his son is anything like dad, he too should be able to win at first asking. Solid morning worktab. The hot-as-a-petardo, “El Caracas Caballero,” Rrramon Dominguez, is in the irons for Rick Dutrow.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#8 Knockher Off

#5 Fierce Face

#7 Burning Flame

Race Two:

:2: Casa Tua

gets my tepid nod in this claiming-tag, turf route. Yes, she hasn’t been out for nearly five months. Yet, when she last perambulated around the racetrack, she was facing much tougher. This Storm Cat-bred filly is five for eight, lifetime, on the lawn. If reasonably ready, I believe she can prevail. Joel Rosario rides for Barclay Tagg.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#8 The West Rim

#3 Speedy’s Gal

#7 Take Her To the Top

Race Three:

:5: Darwin

has the breeding (“There you go again”) and the connections to win at first asking. There’s that patrilineal lineage - family tree even - Big Brown (Boundary), again. Solid morning works. First asking? The Hall-of-Famer, John Velazquez, for Todd Pletcher. As George Gershwin might have penned: “Who Can Ask For Anything More?”

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#6 Casino Day

#2B Transparent

#7 Rienzi

Race Four:

:3: Superestrella

broke his maiden in his last start back in August at “The Spa”. The Storm Cat-bred colt was facxing much tougher then. I am a little curious about the precipitous class drop. Now in for a 20K tag. Ramon Dominguez reprises his ride for the razor-sharp conditioner, Dom Schettino.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#9 Knock Rock

#12 Golden Tornado

#7 Winter Now

Race Five:

:11: Sunshawn

draws outside in this maiden sprint. That should help. Drops in for a tag after running into maiden specials. This could be the Awesome Again-bred colt’s wake up call. Eddie Castro rides for George Weaver.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#6 Palace

#3 Fair Trade

#4 Keyaly

Race Six:

:7: Poliziotto

won his last on the turf. He now stretches out a sixteenth. The Holy Bull-bred roan has a first and a second in two tries on the lawn. John Velazquez pilots for Chad Brown.

#11 Barnard’s Galaxy

#6 Gossip Column

#10 Windafull

Race Seven:

:7: Dreaming of Julia

looks like the standout here. The Seattle Slew-breds filly has won her two previous races by a total of nearly twenty-seven lengths. Solid recent four-furlong work. John Velazquez for Todd Pletcher.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#2 My Happy Face

#5 Sweet Shirley Mae

#6 Nancy O

Race Eight:

:7: Micromanage

gets my nod in this mile route. The Medaglia d’Oro-bred colt easily won his last at seven furlongs. Certainly capable of repeating despite the added furlong. Joel Rosario for Todd Pletcher.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#2 Shanghai Bobby

#4 Archwarrior

#5 Fortify

Race Nine:

:5: Summer Front

hadhis two-race win streak snapped in the Secretariat at Arlington Park in mid-November. The Danzig-bred colt now cuts back a furlong; that should help. The colt has five wins in six tries on the lawn. Ramon Dominguez for Christophe Clement.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#3 Dullahan

#7 Howe Great

#4 Cogito

Race Ten:

:6: Springcourt

gets my nod in the finale. The Forty Niner-bred colt finished fourth in his last on the lawn; yet he was only a half-length off the winner. I like the turf to dirt angle. Ramon Dominguez rides for the blisteringly hot conditioner, David Jacobson.

Others Worthy of Consideration:

#9 Trumpet Man

#3 Copper Tiger

#2 My Man Dan
