I don't think that I've ever seen (or will see) another baseball play like this.

With two out and the bases loaded in the top of the first inning in St. Louis, Michael Morse of the Nationals hit a line drive to right field, where it appeared that the ball had struck the top of the right field wall and bounced back onto the field.

The St. Louis outfielder treated the ball as if it were still in play, and threw it back in to the infield, where Morse was tagged between first and second for the third out after one run had scored.

However, the Nationals appealed the play, claiming that the ball had cleared the eight-foot outfield wall that would have made it a home run, but had then bounced back on to the field as a result of striking a second wall (out of the field of play) that was located immediately in back of the eight-foot wall.

The umpires reviewed the video of the play, and then had the runners and batter retrace their steps (including touching all bases along the way) to their original positions, and re-positioned Morse at the plate holding an imaginary bat. He then swung at an imaginary ball that was ruled a home run, and he and all the runners rounded the bases and scored.

Plays like that are why baseball will always be my (second) favorite sport! :)
