"No law shall embrace more than one subject, which shall be expressed in its title."

Reword it if you will. The idea is the "single subject" provision in the constitutions of some states. If it works for the states why not the feds?

How many stupid laws came into being as riders on essential legislation? Example, it's now legal to carry firearms in national parks, a provision that was attached as a rider to an appropriations bill. You would think that Congressmen/Congresswomen would not approve such shenanigans but 223 years of experience says otherwise.

How much pork gets into the budget via this route?

I agree - our congress is thoroughly corrupt.
Not a one of them could actually govern honestly.
Not a one of them.

So you're saying carrying a firearm in a Ntl Park is a shenanigan?

Why should the laws be different in a park than out of it?

You ever see Smokey the Bear? He bad. Meaner than a junkyard dog.

Check it out in this poignant, ethnically diverse, Government sponsored, videOhh.

The fact that it got passed on the basis of an appropriations bill.
Pure bullshit.

We won't know how much pork was in that pig until someone reads it.

All lobbyists without exception would oppose such a thing as it is the very mechanism by which the corruption is perpetrated. The other thing that will never get changed to something simple (even though they do talk about that sometimes) is the tax code as that is the primary implement of the corruption.

The government is structured to benefit those in office and those who bribe them. No matter what you call it, lobbying is bribery. Every single one in congress, without exception, bought and paid for and our interests are not their concern. Ever.

If it looks like shit, and if it smells like shit, it must be your congressman.

The founding fathers knew that there would be Dingy Harry's and Nancy's that rode brooms, the beauty of it is that they would die trying to change anything.
Be very careful for what you wish, my bet is that they dirt nap before the United States Constitution gets anything in the form of change.
