in Kelso Stakes. I wonder what's up with Shackelford.

Too fast too early on a slow surface, that's all.

It isn't like the race collapsed.

Don't think there was anyone to close into it, if there was a Calebs Posse type, he would have been 25 back early and swooped them all in the lane

I dunno about the race, but I collapsed.
Time to move on to Santa Anita.
Enough of this crap.

I guess it's difficult for some to believe that Jersey Town was actually the better horse on Saturday...

At a time and place of his own choosing, I suppose.

I just didn't think it would Belmont Park.

He got beat by a good horse. Jersey Town isn't the most consistent, but his best is pretty good. Shackleford had no excuse, racing on the lead and toward the inside, on the right part of the track.

I keyed against Shackleford Saturday.

It was reported that he came out of his big race in the Met a tired horse, then he ran a subpar effort in the mud, and then he missed a race because he wasn't 100%. I thought it was a mortal lock he was going to be less than 100% for the race Saturday.

If you ask me, the fact that Belmont was probably favoring inside speed Saturday was the only reason he hung around for second and split me out of a big exacta.

The real problem is what to do with him in the BC.

He's probably both better and worse than he looks.

IMHO, his race Saturday was bias aided, but he was probably a short horse that could easily be ready to fire another big race now that he's had a useful prep since being less than 100%.
