Hi there,

I'm sure this isn't the right spot on the site to post this so please feel free to move it to the right place.

The charity I founded in 2008, Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue, which currently has 30 rescued ex-racehorses in its care is fighting a voting/popularity contest of charities to try to win a grant from Chase (bank) Community Giving.

There are three days of voting left; voting ends 11.59:59 eastern time on Wednesday 19th.

So far we have spent a week in the 20K grant territory (47-96th ranked charities). However we are small, and our support base is losing ground quickly. Today since 3am we have lost 5 positions already, falling from 80th to 85th.

We could still win a 10K grant (96-196 ranked charities) but it would be awful at this point after so much work in the last 11 days' of voting to lose that extra $10,000. That is a lot of money for our charity and represents a lot of horse feed and re-training expenses...

Can you help by voting (and sharing)? To vote you need either

a) a facebook account or
b) a chase bank account or
c) both

The link (which doesn't work for mobile devices) to our voting page via Facebook application is here:

http://tinyurl.com/8dgpxl6

and sometimes the application is slow and the page whites out before settling so please give it time. You have to find and click the "vote" button for it to count.

The link to vote via Chase (account holders) is here:

https://t.co/qtz7t4t3

and you have to hit "vote now" and then enter Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue, then hit vote.

Thanks so much for any help you can offer. Cross posting to other racing sites would also be very much appreciated. To my knowledge, though can't confirm, we are the only racing charity currently in the running for a Chase grant.

Thanks again,
Caroline

Here is that Chase link, for those who were a bit put off by the original link, that went through Twitter for some reason:

I voted for you.

Done. And cross-posted to PaceandCap.com (http://paceandcap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8675).

In general, I support bona fide horse rescue operations such as these via a share of RDSS proceeds and ADW commissions received. I would encourage everyone to also make a small direct donation, even $25 bucks a year. You'll feel good (and so will the horses).

Thank you so much Ted. Agree absolutely on the need for some institutional funding. And thanks so much for cross-posting, I think we are going to need a lot of that in the next three days...

Thank you tucker6 and tholl... I'm going to blow up PA trying to thank everyone individually :) Sorry...

I have to teach today, so won't be around, but appreciate everyone's support so much. We usually struggle in the first half of the day's voting (3am - 3pm) more than the second half (3pm - 3am) just because of the east coast charities' voting being concentrated in the first half.

Voting ends 11:59:59pm east coast time on Wednesday night (9pm for me).

Thanks again,
Caroline So you need to have 'friends' and/or 'money' in order to vote? Uh....

I seriously do not have facebook or chase, but I will be pulling for you to get the money. I am active with a similar farm in my area, and know how important every dollar can be.

Good luck!
