How big is the pool there? its Wednesday, i'm guessing its small with other tracks running. If i'm right thats the risk of betting smaller tracks like that...one guy plays a big double and couple other people play numbers...you are screwed. Sometimes the reverse happens and you get a good one because no one in the small pool of people has it.....but more times than not its a screw job. Its like any other statistic.....the bigger the sample....there is usually less deviation from the proper odds. Its not always people cheating. In fact it almost always isn't....

The double pool was only about $5,000 so if the takeout is 20% that means 7 people out of 2,500 had it. There were 8 horses in race 8 and 12 in race 9 so random bets would get the double 1 time out of 96 (about 25 winners). But there was a 1/1 shot in the 8th and a 4/5 in the 9th so one would think they would take plenty of action. I don't know, it just seems that maybe someone was punching wheel tickets after race 8 was run.

With a small pool like that, there could have been 0 winning combos and they paid off 1 out of 2.

I've noticed this stuff at really small tracks, especially Mountaineer's pick 6. You would think that at some point Mountaineer would have a pick 6 carryover that went over 10k but i'm not sure they've ever had one which seems odd considering they have large fields all the time.

Because of the size of the pool and the 'smallness' of the track, seems like nobody will care to even investigate this. If you are a 'pool skimmer' and have found a way to bet after the start or after a leg has been run, these are the ways to grab small money and not get noticed. Its the Anti-Chris Harn approach.

Yeah, its fun to cherry pick the random and occasional stupid low payout, but most of you have no clue how many of these there are EVERY SINGLE DAY.

And they lose with great regularity.

Perfect example, I was watching the replay of Belmonts feed today, and noticed a 30-1 shot that was crushed in the exactas early with a few combos. They payoff would have been silly low if it had come in .

Horse never raised a hoof. This was probably a coupla grand tossed on these.
