Right Wing, UK broadsheet Daily Telegraph reports:

"The Tory (Conservative) party is mounting a fence-mending mission to the Republican convention after a senior MP admitted that their American sister-party's "extreme" positions on abortion, health care and religion had alienated many Conservatives.

Brooks Newmark, a government Whip and MP for Braintree in Essex who was born in the US and campaigned for George Bush Snr as a student, said that Barack Obama remained much more popular with Tory MPs than Mitt Romney and his fiscally conservative running-mate Paul Ryan.

More importantly the whole Tea Party movement doesn't sit comfortably with most conservatives in the UK. And the whole Bible-Belt thing; looking to God the whole time; the extreme anti-abortion approach; it just doesn't sit well with the Conservative Party at all."

NT III logging in with yet another, in a long line of whining cut & paste articles.

Brits don't groove on Rom/Ry? Oh heavens, what will we do?

Then, if I lived in El Paso, like NT III, I'd be jaded as well.

hogwash, nothing has changed as far as the Republicans position on abortion. its hasn't gotten more "extreme" and it's a view that most people have.

Obama is even okay with late term abortions, and even voted against a bill in Illinois that would allow a doctor to administer care to a baby which survived a late term abortion! think about that one and tell me what is extreme.
do the tories also support this kind of heinous action?

Who exactly is making abortion an issue in this campaign? The Republicans? I don't see that...I see DEMOCRATS TRYING to make it an issue.

I seriously doubt the majority of American voters are going to allow abortion to be a deciding factor in this campaign.

It's about the economy stupid. We'll see if that plays out again this November.

the democratic convention sounds like it's going to be abortionpalooza.
Sandra Flucke and her gal pals ranting and raving about their birth control and abortions. i half expect a live abortion performed onstage, if they did you know the crowd would be cheering.

Let's see, conservatives in Britain.
That ranks on my list of concerns right there next to how many teeth Brits have on average. They might be more concerned with wondering where their empire went. Can anything be more irrelevant that what anyone if Europe thinks?

Hopefully, it will be Sandra. I would favor abortion if it were retroactive and we could vote on it.

The Brits don't like the tea party. That's been true for over 200 years.

One thing that never fails on this board. The dumbest threads are started by native Texan.

Don't worry, Native Texan. Sooner or later a right winger here will babble on again about how the world despises and disrespects Obama!

After all, doesn't FOX news say so?

Personally, I'd like to see FOX/Murdoch do a story on what the rest of the world thinks of our righties. :jump:

Then, if I lived in El Paso, like NT III, I'd be ........

........looking out your window at the El Paso lunar-like landscape on a daily basis, trying to finally get a glimpse of a tree or green grass

The rest of the world as in Africa where the lifespan is about 50 yrs? Or did you mean China or India which are 10% first world countries and 90% third world and gdp per capita is 10k and 5k?

Maybe you mean Europe where that European Monetary Union has been such a smashing success. Or the Middle East where they don't make a single product, other than oil, that the world wants.

Pray tell, who are these people that we're trying to impress?

For sure. It just goes to show us just how far left all of the Euro-Socialist nations are, and that goes for Canada too. In many of these nations Obama is regarded as a moderate, middle of the road. This is exactly why we must never allow ourselves to become like them.

What I never tire of is my unending battle against liberalism, in all of it's guises. Whenever one of the leftists on this forum, such as Mosty, Cappy, NJ, or one of the others, declares that I am crazy, insane, nuts, demented, etc., it warms my heart and tells me that I am doing my job. Very likely I am the most conservative member on this forum, and just love to tweak the noses of the looney lefties at every opportunity.
