I just heard the news, breaking on the radio.
Neil Armstrong was a terrific guy, from everything I read and saw on film.I think he was the perfect choice to command Apollo 11, the manual landing he made on the moon was incredible.
It's a sad day for me. RIP, Commander Armstrong

Spirit is silent but it would be awe-inspiring if JPL could program Opportunity and Curiosity to raise their arm in salute to Neil Armstrong in any upcoming ceremonial tribute.

He walked on the moon and came back home.
Top that.

I remember the moon landing, looking up at the moon that night, knowing people were there. It was truly amazing back then.

RIP

Aside from some close personal triumphs (like say being married for 40 years today:) ), perhaps the coolest day of my life!

Being married 40 yrs is something to be proud of. Especially considering the era in which you survived

Congrats. I have 25 yrs under my belt and you make me feel like a freshman

As in by the Italians not Native Americans, right? ;)

America is fast losing its heroes and not replacing them at the same rate. IMO, they are our most precious resource. If our nation is to survive we must reverse course.
