Take a look at the pics on nyra's site...check out the pic where Mariano is presenting the "trophy" to Ramon D. Wtf, a framed Friday program? He would have been better off giving him a simple handshake.

What, you think they can give silver cups and plates for every race? This is and has been the standard for as long as I can remember for regular races.

Who in the Blue Hell is Mariano anyways?
They made a big deal out it on the TV show last night.

If he went to the races today, he might have felt a bit sluggish.
Closers sucked all day........ ;)

Former?

Okay, that is a bit inl. I hope he can come back from the injury, but it will be rough. Severe knee injuries are very rare for pitchers and are difficult for any athlete to recover from. If anyone can do it, he can. He will get back on the mound, but he is not likely to be the same. I hope I m wrong.

Alot of things have been "a standard" for years, which by the way means little in this failing sport. It also doesn't mean you don't amp it up for a big name...They actuall played a clip of his highlights on the big screen...with volume! I dont think they do that for the Derby when they are at Belmont. A plaque would have been classier...a generic one at that.
