Calling Jay Trotter!

I'm not sure where you get the money list and/or how it is updated.

Player's list. (http://www.pga.com/pgachampionship/players/2012-pga-championship-field)

All of the talking heads went on and on about the weather's importance during the Open but that was a non starter. We're hearing the same thing about the Ocean Course. Maybe this time they'll be right.

And, for those that might not have heard, there are no bunkers. They're all sandy areas and there are not any restrictions normally associated with bunkers. Players may take sand during a practice stroke, they may ground their club, etc.

Called my son to see where the PGA Pool was at and he indicated that the guy who runs it is on holidays and he doesn't see much of a chance of it being distributed if it wasn't already out. So, we're out of luck on my end of things.

I would suggest that someone throw together some sort of pool.....maybe use the World Golf Rankings and you can only pick one guy from within a certain range, say 1 to 10; 11 to 20, etc. or 1 to 20; 21 to 40, something easy like that. Pick 5 guys total, same rules as before but only one player from each range.

Maybe DJofSD can pick the range, salaries won't matter; 5 guys using best 4 each day. That's my quick solution. Someone take the bull by the horns quickly and post it.

2012 PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

Since we don't have the Salary List and time is running late we'll run the pool with a little change up. Instead of using the salaries we'll use the current World Golf Rankings List.

* See the attached list of Players available for selection
* Pick 5 players
* Players are grouped by Ranking Groups of 20 (ie. Group 1 is #1 to #20; Group 2 is #21 to 40; etc.
* You can only pick one player from any given group of 20 (ie. Only one of the top 20 players; one of the next 20; etc.)
* Your score is based on the top 4 players per day from your team.
* Players who miss the cut receive the same score as the dayest highest score.
* Post your selections in this thread.
* All picks must be posted by 7:20 am EST, Thursday, August 9th

Good Luck

Seeking player input for future contests. We were at the mercy of receiving the Salary Sheet from another golf pool I play (it actually never did show up), so I'm thinking we should develope our own sheet for future events so that we can get it up early which will allow more participation.

I'm thinking The World Golf Rankings might be a solid and easy way to go! (See attached sheet)

I did some rough calculations and on first glance I'm thinking 5 players with a combined maximum Average Point Total of 25. Currently, the top player goes for 9.673; top 15 players are above 5.000; top 40 are above 3.000; and the top 100 at 1.695.

Using a maximum of 25 points would allow us to pick 2 or 3 very top players and force some strategy completing the teams. These are just my initial thoughts. Please check out the Rankings Sheet and make comments or suggestions.

Maybe for 2013 we can run a schedule of golf events throughout the year -- my suggested schedule:

Jan 12-15 Sony Open in Hawaii
Feb 02-05 Waste Management Phoenix Open
Mar 15-18 WGC - Cadillac Championship
Apr 05-09 The Masters
May 10-13 The Players Championship
May 31-03 The Memorial
June 14-17 The U.S. Open
July 19-22 The British Open
Aug 02-05 WGC - Bridgestone Invitational
Aug 09-12 PGA Championship
Aug 31-03 Deutsche Bank (Playoffs)
Nov 01-04 WGC - HSBC Champions

We'll twist Mike's arm and get some prizes thrown in! :jump:

I'm pulling for both Tiger and Ian today. I want the final pairing of the final round to have these two opposite each other. Talk about your war at the shore.

In 2008 Ian Poulter said that he was more or less the only player in the world that could challenge Tiger.

He said:
"Don't get me wrong, I really respect every professional golfer, but I know I haven't played to my full potential and when that happens, it will be just me and Tiger."
http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=3221755

Well Ian gets his chance now.

That, and, a year or so back, when he was rising while Tiger was falling in the OWGR, he tweated in response to Tiger, "quiet there number 2" -- or words to that effect.
