I'm looking for the best upset chance in the Hambletonian...

I like both Kadabra colts

Knows Nothing (1:53-1, 27-1) from his last race and
Prestidigitator (1:54-, 28-1) on that twice-double wide°° long mile from pp8

Jody or Sylvain... or someone else? ...Any thoughts?

Just looked at the PP's the horses are all close............whoever among these horses should get the best trip wins it. Know Nothing, Market Share, Archangel! I'll pick Know Nothing.......the best closer?

One of my favorite handicapping angles, admittedly not a great one, is to see a horse parked for the entire mile and finish strong or finish with a time close to what they normally run. Prestidigitator(sp?) fits the mold perfectly. Haven't gotten too much of a chance to check out the PP's but the card is superb. Really looking forward to seeing the action live from the last row of benches!!!

i hate to admit it but i like Gym Tan Laundry's chances on saturday. Brennan's done it before in jersey and almost as if he's out to prove a point...watch out.

Until they go back to running best of heats, it's not really the Hambo, is it?:(

Takter chose the rail because Knows Nothing and Market Share had already taken the three and the two. He then pointed out that Broad Bahn won from the rail last year while Dewey won from that post in 2008 and Muscle Hill in 2009. That’s true but those scenarios were all different.

Last year Broad Bahn won because Brennan hustled him out of the gate and created space behind him for the other two that left. He had the field in line by the time he hit the quarter in 27.1. Once they let BB snooze through a second quarter in 28.4 he was sitting pretty. MOMM and Chapter Seven were superior colts but the former went first up to the half and broke with an eighth to go and ChapterSeven never got into the race.

While Dewey and Muscle Hill just beat down the opposition from the rail, Muscle Massive won in a more roundabout fashion in 2010, but even there the rail horse, Cassis, made the mile until the three quarter mark. So getting buried from the one post at the start of the Hambletonion has certainly not been an issue of late.

The opening quarter of the race has gone in 27.1 the last three years. Brennan got to back things down up the back last year, while Tetrick threw a second quarter in 27.2 at the field two years ago with Cassis.

This year it sets up for more colts moving from the get go. Archangel has good gate speed. Morrill said he’d welcome a trip behind the right colt, but he won’t hesitate to leave if things go that way. Palone will want to get Stormin Normand into the race from the eight, and Andy Miller will want to do the same with Money On My Mind. Noel Daley already said they won’t win any money sitting last with GymTan Laundry and Brennan is the man to gun him out of there. The rest will probably wait to feed off a fire fight up front.

Uncle Peter has accomplished the most. Takter has held him above the others in his stable right along. Pierce is the best big money driver in the sport. I have to think he’ll find a way to win.

Uncle Peter wears rubber shoes in front, and they slide on an off track, but the weather forecast is for partly cloudy and hot weather at M1 on Saturday.

If he drew better I'd like him as well. That gate speed in the Goodtimes has to show up again somewhere? And with Brennan it certainly is likely, ESPECIALLY in a big race like the Hambo! Right? But post 10...

Gym Tan Laundry is the trotting equivalent to Allstar Legend: the bettors tend to ignore him but leaving him out of gimmick bets can be costly. GTL, who is winless in 2012, has only been favored once, back in mid-May when he finished second in a leg of the NJSS. He’s gone off at odds higher than 15/1 in his last six starts. But he’s got a second, three thirds and three fourth place finishes, so just like Allstar, he’s not an easy toss on the gimmicks. I can’t see him winning here though.

I like the 4 Archangel at 9-2 on the line quite a bit. Should be able to get at least 4-1 or better at post time. Driver mixed it up early in the elim then just sat late. He knew he was in the big money Hambo final. Morrill is not the "big name" but is a top flight driver. Should be a fun race.

If I do end up going deep in the exotics there's no way I will leave out GTL. You never know what will happen, that's why they race! The Pace is a perfect example as you mentioned All Star Legend had speed but NO ONE left and he sat pretty the whole race! Seems like in the big ones no one leaves or everyone leaves. One driver recently commented saying when you think everyone else will leave everyone sits afraid to get in a speed duel and vice versa if you think no one will leave. I can't wait to see it, I look forward to the first Saturday in August every year!

I like Market Share. I also agree with Shemp, the Hambo isnt the same without heat racing. LONG LIVE THE JUG. GTL was my first throw out. I've lost before, if he beats me, he beats me. I'm playing 2-14567 ( first and second). Pers, tri's, supers. Throwing out the 3 also. But like i said I KNOWS NOTHING. Enjoy your Hambo Day everyone.

Also a great day for the first female trainer to win the Hambletonian.

Overlay it was also a very good day for owner Richard Gutnick. He lives about five miles down the road from me in Blue Bell, Pa. Not only does he own the Hambo winner Market Share but also the world record tying Chapter Seven. Chapter Seven winner of the $250,000 Nat Ray stake. Market Share winner of the 1.5 million Hambo stake. Not a bad payday.

Tons of fun to watch and was pleasantly surprised that TVG seemed to prioritize M1 all day.

It was one of the best atmospheres I have witnesses on Hambo day that I can remember for some time. They changed the gate admission to $5 adults, but that got you a program and the choice of the usual hat,or a nylon book case(I opted for the bookcase this year). They jacked up the sausage and peppers to $8....boo!! On the bright side they included a super large deli sandwich, with real turkey breast along with a penne broccoli pasta salad, and fresh fruit cup, for only 10 bucks. All packed in an easy, hand held carrying box. That was the best value of the day on the eats end of it...lol.

Many youngsters there, more than in years past. The jersey girlz were out in force and looking mighty fine at that too:eek: . They were firing out Meads Pace shirts and myself and my buddies were able to get a few them, battling on the grandstand apron....lol. Also they were throwing out what looked like plastic casino chips, but they were actually free admission chips for any night for the remainder of the meet.Got 1 of those too.

I broke even bailing out on the late double. My best bet of the day was Cocoa Lindy, but she only returned 6 bucks.Boy,was she ever giant though!!Gural has given us some hope that Harness Racing isn't totally "on life support" yet.Anything to me at this point is encouraging.:)

Good Fortune:)

How much were they before?

I rarely eat them at home but every summer they have a Polish Town Festival out here on the east end of Long Island in a town called Riverhead.

My neighbors across the street ride their bikes to it just to go to the sausage and pepper vendor....the very first year they did it they bought home one for me..damn, that thing was delicious......they have been doing it every year and always bring me one if I'm home on that day....they never allow me to pay as they say its a yearly thank you for small favors I have done for them in the past....I have no idea what they cost...but man, they are so awesome I probably would pay $8.00 - $10 bucks for one.

Nope, just playing off the name. It seemed alot of people liked horses I didnt really care for. Didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way. JUst having fun. It's nice hitting a race with alot of money in the pool and beating the favorites. You actually get paid. I LOVE harness racing, but being a gambler you also want value. I've had alot more interest in the larger t-bred tracks lately. I tend to wager against favorites and you can really get paid in those pools when you hit. I sometimes feel like Bendict Arnold handicapping a racing form. Value, value, value.

See you guys at the Jug.

First of all G I think we are pretty close to being neighbors.I live in Ronkonkoma here on the Island and frequent passing through Riverhead every weekend to a standardbred horse farm located very close to the town.

Getting back to the real matter at hand...FOOD!!!!:)
I too have been to the Polish fair there, but do not recall buying the delicious S&P you are describing. It was the brand "PREMIO" they sell it every year there. It was 6 bucks last year, but they raised it to eight this year. They give you one sausage with peppers on a roll..pretty good!!!:)
