That track has become a joke with no regard for the bettor.

i saw the same thing in Hollywood Park 5 times this year. the same thing happens all day in harness.

the pools are basically empty, and this is one of the reasons.

maybe i should give up betting horses after 40 years of this, the game won't mind, they will only lose one degenerate, they can replace me with no problem!

They'll have a harder time replacing you than you think, lamboguy...

Do you know many "degenerates" who have the money that you got? :)

It doesn't seem like racing cares if it replaces the customers it loses.

i just found the newest way to lose a race, in indiana downs 11th race, i cold-conked a 4-2 exacta after i got dq'd 5 races back. the numbers came back 4-2 but the race was declared a no-contest because there were GEESE on the track. i am not even kidding....it was funny, actually not that funny, i just missed a $60 trick. at least i can moan!

Bridgejumer out on in the 7th on the :6: .... Good Luck

20k of the 22k in the show pool is on this one. Is she vulnerable to finish out of the top three, I dont know, but she was 4th as the beaten favorite last time out at CT... should be interesting

I was watching Los Al Sunday night, and this horse was 6-5, then, the next flash, he was 15-1!

Someone took their $2 back?

how did they figure the show pay-offs?
my xpessbet figures show 66,084 bet on 6 with 73,497 total show pool
the winner paid $2.40 and 3rd paid $3.80

Since the 6 was 2nd they had to return most of that 66k to the bettors, making any show wager payoff a bit small, but $3.80 on the 4 wasnt bad at all if thats your style of playing. She was arguably just as good on paper as the 6 and offered 5x the value. Good pick

Very discouraging product over at Mountaineer these last two days.

You'd think they would try to take advantage of the fact that they are the only thoroughbred track to run at night...

lamboguy
07-31-2012, 10:46 PM
i think they would love to have better horses, however the purses are tiny, and the on track attendance is even smaller. on track handle for monday night was $16,000. total handle from adw's and simulcast was over $1 million. those are very tough numbers to support a racing operation. mountaineer only keeps about 3% of the takeout on the signal they ship out. on racing only they take in a little over $30,000 per night, and payout over $100,000 in purses. that is one tough go!

on track handle for monday night was $16,000

can that be possibly correct? I though most places the backstretch connections added significantly to the handle. Do those people have ADW accounts and bet off-track?

Childish games that I first noticed in saturday's nitecap and that point to a certain undividual. All i can say is, steps are being taken. I was pissed and probably went too far in calling him out on the air. Oh well. I'm easy to find.

lamboguy

he must have done it through an ADW, i would have called the ADW and tell them to freeze his account after he made the bet, and let him put his rooting shoos on and see how he likes it.

Word is the guy is a newbie..well-heeled, fires with both fists, but everything to learn. Not at all malicious. Supposedly, he's been contacted and has agreed to desist. In any event, I wish him the best.

It is good that this behavior is frowned upon. If massive bets and last second cancellations are allowed, pools could be easily be manipulated to the point that most handicappers/bettors will just say forget it (the ones that are still left betting that is).

Someone wagered $5,000 to win on the #5 in the 7th to open things up, beginning of the late Pick4 tonight, 8/03... we'll see what happens. Pedro Walker is up (41-0-4-3).... ?????? we'll see what happens

I think Mark may have answered the "jock ?" on the live show. No jock was named, this one came up by way of the racing office? Nonethless, should be interesting....

This stuff has been going on for quite a while at the Mtn.

Has not one person complained to Mountaineer higher ups about this stuff?

I know at the ADW that I work for, the only way that we would cancel a wager that big is if the horse scratched and he wants his money back prior to the race.

Smaller bets (50 and under) can be cancelled, but anything bigger you are stuck with.

Speaking of Mountaineer and their first race, its just about an hour away and they haven't posted their scratches yet?? WTF is up with that? Their biggest day of the year and they can't get that info out?

I'm planning on betting the card, but I have errands to run and have to place bets soon. They aren't doing the bettors any favors by being lazy about reporting scratches.

Happened again. Race 3 yesterday - The Secretary of State the 11 (Piskacha) is 3/2 with two minutes to post. The next click she goes back to 27/1. Was 50/1 Morning Line.

No. This nonsense has been going on for years at that place. Mountaineer is the home of the 'fake out' bet.
