Don't know what you are looking for but to me its very "cult of personality" like.

I don't like it at all... it wouldn't matter who the candidate was.

I don't like it because it's familial. Those addressing a president by his first name should be family and close friends...And then, only privately.

It reminds me of a fund raising ploy, because that is what it is. Don't worry, you don't have to wish anyone Happy Birthday if you don't want to.
As they have done in the past, the Obama campaign will enter anyone who donates a minimum of three dollars, in a drawing to spend time with the President at his Chicago home on his birthday, August 4th.

Please don't send your contributions in all at once. The United States Postal Service can only handle so much mail at one time.

As for me, I will have to pass this time. My 92 year old Aunt is celebrating her birthday on the same day, and she is much more interesting and fun than any President. Not only that but with twelve children, eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and counting plus in laws, out laws, nieces, nephews and friends, there will be more people there voluntarily than at a Romney campaign rally..

I have to ask. What if John Hinckley donates three dollars and then wins the drawing?

I'm pretty sure he is still incarcerated.Has he not (in recent years) been given passes to visit his family without an escort?

What if Casey Antony wins?

If I give $30 do I get 10 chances to win?

Oklahoma? Is that in the United States?Yes. We bought if from the Native Americans and made it a state. It's the only land in the country where the Native Americans were compensated for their property as required by the Constitution.

Stole 'em. ;)I was born in Oklahoma and lived there until 1971.

I'll admit that my post is an oversimplification but it is not BS. With the exception of the panhandle the Oklahoma territory was set aside for exclusive Native American use after the Louisiana Purchase.

Native Americans lost most of their claim through a series of events. Notably the Cherokee lost their claim to the Cherokee Outlet, sometimes erroneously called the Cherokee Strip, as a punishment for the Cherokees siding with the Confederacy during the Civil War. The Outlet was then opened for settlement with a land run.

Most of Oklahoma found its way into non-Native American hands when the government pressured the various tribes to cease holding the land in common and to divide it among individual members of the tribe. Non-Native Americans could then deal with tribal members individually to acquire land.

The panhandle was originally part of Texas but Texas relinquished all lands north of the Missouri Compromise line of 36 degrees 30 minutes north latitude so that Texas could remain a slave state. At one time Texas reached all the way into present day Wyoming.

At various times there were proposals to attach the panhandle to Colorado, Kansas or New Mexico, There was a post war attempt to reattach it to Texas. Cattlemen even tried to get the panhandle admitted as a separate state.

The panhandle, a.k.a. "no man's land" was finally attached to Oklahoma as part of the enabling act by which Oklahoma became a state. So the panhandle was acquired "the old-fashioned way."
