Superfecta --Remember Oklahoma winter 1989 - 71 degrees on Monday, January 31st, 4 degrees with wind chill of -46 on Friday, February 4th = opening weekend of the first Winter TB meeting. Worst two months of winter I ever spent - it even snowed the first weekend in April. (I ran Covington Woods that afternoon - and learned that veterinarians didn't know a damn thing about whether that kind of weather would hurt a horse or not. They said it wouldn't - and all three I ran opening weekend had lung problems for 6 to 8 months that year.)

I left my house at 5:00 am this Morning... 43 years old.....35 of those years here in Boston....and I never felt what hit my face this morning. Tempature read -5. Windchills approaching 40 below zero. Buddy of mine with a 350 diesel picked me up...nothing much else will start after sitting in -20 all night...

We drove by a few Jobs to see what was going on and to my surprise , everyone one of them was working.. except tempature sensitive jobs involving Concrete, epoxys et al....

I went for breakfast and stopped by my house to wait it out...

Most Big Jobs have performance Bonus's. Heavy Construction is very time orientated. Jobs that are in-line for multi-million dollar on-time or early completion incentives will work through anything...

This is handled locally by the stewards for each trade on each job with the superentedent. City wide stops are not mandatory and 100's of guys stayed and worked today.

Saturday it was very very cold in New Jersey and they were working. You meet some guys in this business that are real gorilla's and can work in anything...and will if the money is right.
