I'd therefore delete mine but I'm not sure how. I think it's here because of the impending meeting with the Senate. Gural is attending and even though it's more about thoroughbreds, it does have implications with standardbreds as well

The average person watching the Nightly News makes no distinction between harness racing and thoroughbred racing—it’s all the same to them. The same goes for the members of Congress who will be hearing testimony from Jeff Gural and others.



After a particularly egregious boat race at Yonkers in 1971 (Moonstone Bay and Mr Ace) Congress held a hearing at which they viewed the race and heard testimony. Some members proposed banning horseracing while others pushed for a national racing czar. The ban would have covered all forms of pari-mutuel horse racing and the czar would have been in charge of the same.



When it comes to a segment like this on a national news program that touches the general population, we’re all in it together.
