Oh, how I've dreaded the day this headline would inevitably pop up onto my home page news...my absolute favorite horse of all time is now officially an old man.

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/71110/holy-bull-pensioned-from-stud-dutyIn a release, Darley America president Jimmy Bell reflected on Holy Bull’s racing career and had this to say when asked about how Holy Bull might compare to some of the other top horses in recent memory: “He was so good, he was not a specialist. Short. Grass. Long. Dirt. Pick your best five horses. He could run with any of them.”Grass?

But look at him in the photo, he still looks incredible. So handsome, so fine! You picked a good one to be your "all time".:)

My favorite as well.. time goes by too quickly, it doesn't seem like that long ago I was at the track watching him blow the field away in the Woodward.. Luckily he was able to recover from his injury and go to stud..

A couple features that were done after his retirement and the injury he sustained to end his career..

The great grey never fully recovered from the injury that ended his racing career. That was a sad day for so many. Croll took it hard .
Hope he enjoys his well deserved leisure time.
