Mister Herbie, who beat San Pail in the Glory’s Comet final, looked like the best in the division when he came first up on the back and ground Winning Mister into pulp in the Cutler on May 14. He won with ease in 51.3. However, he looked like a different horse two weeks later in the Earl Rowe Gold at Georgian as the overland route went nowhere, leading to a sixth place finish, eight lengths back of the winner, Winning Mister.

He’s been out of sight in the six weeks since that race but he surfaced this morning at Mohawk as JJ qualified him in 52.3, the fastest qualifier ever for a trotter in Canada. The splits were: 29.1 57.2 125.1 and home in 27.2. He won by 24 lengths.

ChapterSeven and Daylon come calling next week for the Maple Leaf eliminations.

Jamieson seems to be after all the qualifying records. In early May he qualified Warrawee Needy in 49.2. In that case Needy won by 31 lengths. The splits in that one were 28 55 1:22.3 and home in 26.4.

Needy, who went in the wrong direction in the NA Cup final—backwards—finished second to Bettor Again in a nw25 at Mohawk Saturday night. He is not entered in the M Pace. Maybe a faster Q mile will straighten him out.
