Funny, I just started getting the exact same message.
I have no idea what a Chrome profile is and couldn't find anything in the program that mentioned one. Since I still get on the net, why should I waste my time?
I suspect the profile is meant to benefit someone besides me.

It has been a while since I have used Chrome (actually Chromium, the open-source version). I stopped using it, because it was constantly "phoning home."

As I recall, I would sometimes get messages similar to yours when I would block cookies from google.com. Evidently, Google keeps a profile on you, and even if you set your browser to block all cookies, Google can still set them on your browser, unless you enter an explicit block for google.com. Very sneaky.

Even with the explicit block set, I detected other suspicious activity with Google.

Now, I am back with Firefox.

I think it was meant...thus.....I have a google chrome box.....(as stated)....which is the hardware....I would say in my case for instance, "its an Asus Desktop"

I could be wrong?

I think you are correct. I missed that detail.

However, it is likely that Chrome OS is trying to phone home, and something (probably a setting) is blocking it.

above is a link, clearing this up....the 'google box' he referred to was a box on the screen, and not his hardware, so my first thoughts were inaccurate.

As a last resort you can try Chromium it might not have the code that is showing the message.

I had the same problem on one of my computers.

1. I created a new profile.
That solved it for about 2 days.

2. I removed the "Xmarks Book Synch" extension from all my computers.

Problem solved.
