Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be in Vegas for the next 3 weeks if I'm not online much. Wish me luck that I come home with more than I took :) My flight leaves for Vegas at 11:45AM ET. Should land there around 1:30 local Vegas time.

Buddha,

--I'll start with a quote:

"We're here for a good time, not a long time

So have a good time, sun can't shine every day"

(Lyrics from a song by Trooper, a Canadian Rock Group)

--I think there's some good advice in that song above. As that other old saying goes, "There's more to life than work and worry." It's good for a person to get away from it all. Have a little fun, entertainment, rest and relaxation. It'll rejuvenate you. Maybe you'll even run into some of the PA members in Las Vegas, that reside in that area.

--Good luck at the tables and the sportsbooks in Las Vegas. After all, where would Proctor be without a Gamble?

Cheerio,

Trying2win

Buddha,

Have a good trip. If you get bored, there is always a library computer to check into the board. :D

Forget about the board, Buddah.
If you get bored, which you probably won't, just sit down with a drink in one of the classiest hotels and watch the cocktail waitress' go by!
The best looking women work in the better places.
Have fun! Stay away from the slot machines.

Buddah,
Have a good time in Vegas. I used to go there every year for the super bowl but now i just send them a check. Saves on the gas money.

I will have access with my buddy's computer, but I don't know if I will be on each day, or if I am, it may only be once. I did make it in safely.

As for the others, I don't think I will get bored either. I don't plan to play much in the machines, as I'm not a machine player. I would be much happier playing horses/sports or just doing stupid tourist things :) I got plenty of time here.

Have a Great time Buddha! It can be fun out there. Wife plays the slots, I play the horses and blacjack. Their gaming areas for horseplayers are overated though, i think. Make your picks and sit back and enjoy all that free beer.
By the way , has anyone read Barry Meadows' "Blackjack Autumn....."the description of being a professional blackjack player? Pretty good read.

Remember, you are only about a 4 hour drive from Santa Anita?
and if you have never driven across Death Valley (this is the right time of year) and seen that Desert, it might be worth a day trip.

For that matter, 79 dollars one way and an hour flight from a couple of different airports gets you into the LA area.

Buddha -
Have a great time!
Let us know how you like the racebooks there.
My wife and I just got back on the 6th from 2 1/2 weeks there. We spent Xmas in Vegas (very quiet) with some family, New Year's in Scottsdale then back to Vegas for a couple more days. I played mostly at the Imperial Palace on the Strip because it was handiest to where we were staying. The place itself is a bit tired looking but they had a good selection of tracks (including harness and dogs). The operation itself is pretty good. I went to several other nearby books including Caesar's, Harrah's, Bally's. All of them were newer and nicer looking and I was surprised that I didn't see anyone with a computer in any one of them. I made all my selections ahead of time and took them with me. Maybe others do that as well.
Keep us posted.

Buddah,
In Vegas, go to Metro Pizza if you are a pizza fan.

I thought about going to SA, but flew out so I have no car to drive there. Can't take my buddys as he takes it to work, and they don't have much extra money to drive me there. I may have to look into finding a way there, unless someone in the Vegas area wants to go and take me :)

Since I'm not staying in a hotel, or real close to the strip (bout 20 minute drive) I'm not able to make it to the sports book each day, but may try to get there for SA tomorrow since my buddy isnt working.

Have a great time, but if you need a computer to cap, contact
the race book you want to attend first to see if they permit it.
I know that the Mirage and Treasure Island (same ownership)
don't allow computers in their race book and I was told that
Caesar's doesn't either.

Good luck,

Vegas and MOST casino's are 48 stops for the likes of me and me types. 3 weeks in Vegas will kill the common man. At the very least it will warp your senses to the point where everywhere you go for 6 months will have a DRAB look and feel...

Casino towns warp reality for the average joe,,, getting it back straight is no easy task after 2 days,,,,3 weeks and It may be to late... You might have to stay there.

Mountanieer park will be a serious sand box when you get your next look at it.

You have my Tel# ....calll me if your bored and want to say hello and touch reality.. it'd be good to hear from you.

Buddha,

You could set up your laptop with no problems at the MGM Grand. They have a very nice sports book.

yeah MGM is a Vcool place. Its 2004 & why cant they just leave
gamblers alone. If UR NOT cheating then U got the Right 2
MaxiMize ur Chances of Winning. If that means a LapTop then
ok & if it means CardCounting in BJ then so what. Maybe its
time 2 support the casinos who let U just be urself & Unpatronize
the others.

I don't have a laptop, so I don't have to worry about that. As for what Suff said about being warped, I don't have to worry about that too much as I'm not staying in a casino, and don't have to be there all day and up all night :) It is semi-normal.

From the sports books I have seen (cant remember them all) I did like the Belligio and Caesars Palace was nice. those were two that i saw today. cant remember what others i have seen.

Suff, I will try to get a call to ya sometime this week. I will have to try to remember teh time zone difference. i still have to think what time it is if i am calling a friend from back home :)
