I must say that I really missed what's the heart of PA. At the Arlington outting players were showing me their software and racing reports that they use to handicap. It was 'boys and their toys'. I had looked at software vendors as akin to tipsters, kind of a shady bunch of characters. Now I see them as toy makers for adults, gaming for handicappers. I'm sure some users are successful and show a profit every year while most don't. But this doesn't make the software worhtless. Most software gives race goers insight into the game and a deeper level of entertainment from the game. All this comes with a chance to someday master the game. And many software vendors provide a website that creats a community of players using the same applications and sharing ideas. It's all about having fun first and foremost.
