Last year in June, he came to Toronto to ride our Queen's Plate. The Queen's Plate is 7 days from now and I was really hoping to see him race it again this year. Bummer, maybe next year. :(

Sad that Mr Producer had to be euthanized, has anyone heard anymore about Smart Farda? It was a horrible accident to watch.

Sad that Mr Producer had to be euthanized, has anyone heard anymore about Smart Farda? It was a horrible accident to watch.

According to the Courier-Journal the other two horses walked back to their stalls on their own power.
Mr. Producer suffered a fractured cannon bone and was euthanized on the track. Lemansky and Smart Farda walked back to their barns, Rogers said.

More details this morning.

First Johnny V:
Terry Meyocks, national manager of the Jockeys’ Guild, went to Audubon to see Velazquez on Sunday and said the jockey was being kept overnight and would have blood work checked. Meyocks said they were waiting for a specialist to examine the jockey before knowing if surgery would be required.

Then Smart Farda:
Trainer Kenny McPeek said Smart Farda, who is out of 2002 Kentucky Oaks winner Farda Amiga, was “a little bit stiff” but sustained no fractures. He said he might send the 3-year-old colt to his Lexington farm for a couple of weeks “to let the body soreness get out.”

Hopefully Johnnie is recovered sufficiently to race at Saratoga. A hall of fame rider like John with his talent and competitiveness will be going through a rough time idling around when the big money meet is in progress. I wish him the best.

I don't think we will have to pass the hat around anytime soon for Johnny V.
Let him heal up first, there is always plenty of good rides for a jockey that is as talented as he is.
