According to statistics compiled by Kentucky Horse Racing Commission equine medical director Dr. May Scollay, there were six catastrophic breakdowns at Churchill Downs (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/racetracks/10/churchill-downs) in May. There were only three from January through April at Turfway Park (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/racetracks/27/turfway-park) and Keeneland (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/racetracks/1/keeneland).
