As a curious fellow I find 3 items of interest.

1. H2 was "inducted" into the Las Vegas Mob Museum. (Who knew there was such a thang)
2. Paul Sorvino isn't even a close facsimile of Paulie Vario.

3. Jimmy "The Weasel" Fratianno remains one of the most colorful amongst mobsters.

It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's... funny, the way you tell the story and everything.

I am pretty sure that there are more than a few happy faces around all the card tables in all the social clubs in Brooklyn, NY today.

The two most important lessons in life:

Always keep your mouth shut and never rat on your friends ...

..... unless they are gonna take you out...

One of my favorite movies. The scene at the card table when Joe Pesci tried to make Spider dance with his gun was great.

I grew up in the Goodfellows era when it was going on. Lots of crazy stuff and stories that I won't post but would tell in person. Maybe this summer or fall at a NYRA track.

Here's a link to a story from a girl I knew well. She clearly can't write don't abuse me for that just providing info. Its a tough read start where it says Goodfellows.

The movie GOODFELLAS was about where I grew up in Canarsie and my dad insured that bar the bamboo lounge they burnt down

MP Ranger--How about if you discover one of your "friends" is a child molestor? Or is selling drugs to kids? Still never "rat out"??

I would apply the Texas solution.

Just cause you aren't a rat doesn't mean you have to tolerate
atrocious behavior. I'll leave it at that.

But if you are a rat, you can always find a good reason.

I was repeating Robert DeNiro's lines from Goodfellas.

Those lines from a movie are a sad comment on people. You do NOT protect the child molester, the drug king selling to children. If that would make me a rat then I would be happy to be called a rat. And they ARE good reasons. Not finding a reason.

Mel,

Perhaps ratting on a child molester wouldn't be "the mob way", but whacking him, would. :)

I was thinking the same thing Elk......the mob wouldnt rat! They would provide their own form of justice though. And, like my idea in the Sandusky thread, it would save thousands in tax payer dollars :jump:

El and New--I was not talking about the mob member. Let's define a true rat. He is one who is already a low life scum who would drop a dime for two reason. To save his own sorry butt from jail or from being shot or killed. That is a true rat and he deserves whatever he gets. I'm talking about the non mob person who see's or knows about child abuse and refuses to "rat out" or "snitch" or "help the man" in ANY way. I can understand somewhat the person who lacks the courage or has fears. But to not help the police catch and send to prison a user of children I do not understand. They do it not out of all lack of courage or fear but out of the stupid misguided notion that I will not "rat out" anyone. And YES I would rat out a lifelong friend if I saw him abusing a child.
