You have to be given a thumbs up here for the potential fun and diversion that we will have in this excercise away from the ponies.!!

Hopefully, with the rules above now in place, you'll continue to let us
enjoy the same good fun with the British Open and the PGA Championsip as well.
It's great craic (sounds like crack) as the Irish say.

Thank You,

P.S. While Tiger is one of my selections, personally I don't want him to win. Second is quite okay by me. Jack is still my "man."

In the meanwhile, I have a serious question to ask Jay.

I opted for Patrick Cantlay as 1 of my picks.
He was listed as $9.5 million on the chart provided.
Upon checking the U.S. Open site at:
http://www.usopen.com/en_US/players/bios/35450.html
Patrick is still an amateur.

1. I don't understand how he was $9.5 on the picks? How did he earn that money as an amateur?
2. I do not want to change Patrick from my 5 players.
3. Eventhough he is an amateur, I would like to be credited with his positioning and the monies he might have earned if he does well in this contest.

Is that an unfair request?

Is that an unfair request?Greyfox, my son is a "trader" for one of the big Wall Street companies (I brag when I can) and they run these pools for many of the big sporting events. Currently, they also have a Euro 2012 Pool on the go. These are cash entry events that as Sr. I'm allowed to join in along with Jr.

They actually have a spreadsheet with macros and all the bells and whistles but it is too big to upload and attach on this forum. Anyway, whether someone there assigns the values or they are grabbing this sheet from some other entity, I do not know.

Anyway, it isn't me setting the values. I just figure I have the base data anyway, so I might as well share with my friends here on PA so that we might have a little fun away from the ponies. I believe we have about 30 entrants at this point, so obviously there is some demand for this form of distraction and it makes watching the Majors even more fun.

You will be credited with whatever amount he would have won if he were a Pro, so not to worry. Besides, your results are "self-reported".

Hope that makes sense,

Trotter:ThmbUp:

ps. On a side note, that "guy" who went over the salary cap was even more "un-cool" with his little personal attack tirade! Very un-cool. Just have fun man!

No side bet from me DJ. I don't think he will either. I also don't think Bubba will make the cut. He took a lot of time off after winning The Masters. I don't blame him for that at all. It was his childhood dream. Plus the long hitters will NOT be at any advantage at this course. The have a par4 262 yard hole. That should be fun. I give Luke Donald a good shot at his first major. Then again I'm biased. I root for the guy who is average at best with length off the tee.

DJ--I know Kevin Na is off to a good start but do yourself a favor and DO NOT watch him play. Not any hole. :) Only if he is still among the leaders on the final day. Talk about slow play. They do have a penalty for slow play don't they? At one tournament Na was booed by the fans for taking so long to hit a shot. That never happens at a PGA event.

KN is trying hard to eliminate his slow play. He's been very open with his response to questions about it and almost has his heart on his sleeve as much as Bubba.

Slow play penalties? You betcha.

As a half joke, I have been trying to find out if they will put them on the clock if they're playing in the fog at any time.

This year at The Olympic Club, however, the USGA will break further from tradition with golfers going off the first and ninth tees. Because the ninth tee is right below the clubhouse, it was only logical to have players start either one of the first two rounds there instead of shuttling them to No. 10. The USGA employed this same strategy at the 2004 U.S. Junior Amateur at Olympic.

I picked Ryo b/c his caddie is the club champ. Lot of good that did him.

Still think he's got a great chance at winning on the PGA tour but I guess I'll have to wait for that to happen.

I hope he does well today.

He changed his goal from being high amateur to trying to win it. I admire his guts. I think hole 1-6 will tell the tale. If he can duplicate his performance through those holes then he's got a chance.

He is paired with Mr. Excitement and 3 groups ahead of the throng. That should help him.

Lots of side shows during the event. Just on Sunday there was birdman (http://video.msnbc.msn.com/morning-joe/47858394#47858394) and some joker yelling like he was Fred Flintstone.

And, on a lighter note, my son spied a red Rickie Folwer hat in the crowd -- look at that! I didn't know they had 'em in red. I have to get one of those!

Aside from our little contest it was a very enjoyable tournament to watch. The course was a delight. I can only imagine it chewing us mear mortals up and spitting us out.

It was great to see the young amateur as well. They probably could have done a better job on Day 4 of showing the amateur who actually ended up winning - a game within a game.
