Ray Bradbury, man some of his books made a big impression on me when I was young. The Illustrated Man in particular.

Sad to hear of his passing

Never read the book but the Rod Steiger movie tripped me out as a kid.

The story goes that Ray Bradbury as a beginning writer wrote a story a day for
one year, before he finally sold one. Another Sci-Fi writer (Harlan Ellison) told me this personally back in 1981. Writers usually don't get that good without a lot of work. I briefly met Bradbury many years ago at some convention, very nice guy.

I met Ellison once shortly before the film of "A Boy and His Dog" was released. It was likely at the home of Forest Ackerman. As I recall, there was a lot of "fringe elements" there that day.

I was supposed to be on a panel with "Forry" once at Okon. I had to run my Dealers table and backed out. I got to meet him that evening though and at least one other occasion. Fantastic collection of Sci-f and Horror stuff, I heard.
Ellison I met on several occasions and got to eat dinner with him once( about 10 people.) He taught a writers workshop that I attended in Glenwood Springs colorado many years ago. He tore up one girls manuscript and threw it in the trash and had her in tears. He could be a real SOB, but I liked him.

Yes, it was amazing how much he had in every possible location. And this was in the '70's. With his passing in 2008, I recall reading about concerns over what would happen with his holdings which had expanded to many other locations but I did not keep track. I hope some one or some institution saved it.

I heard it went to some University out west.
