Never mind. Aqueduct is close enough to JFK and has been business long enough..

If this happens, maybe Suffolk will then work with the Carney's, and let them run a small race meet in Brockton during their annual fair in July.

They could start by waiving the 3% fee for simulcast races.

Besides, marginal horses that have trouble competing at the lowest level of slots purses need a place relatively close to ship to and run.

I firmly believe too that the way to make new racing fans is to introduce them to the sport at places like the fair which have a variety of activities for the whole family, and are much less imposing than the environment of a commercial race track.

As long as the guy who originally poured those concrete floors isn't hired to do the new casino!

Suffolk too. It's been near the airport since 1935.

Very impressive! One question, Why do they need the race track? It seems like a very good project without the horses. What do the horses add other than a place to burn off excess casino profits?

Very impressive! One question, Why do they need the race track? It seems like a very good project without the horses. What do the horses add other than a place to burn off excess casino profits?great businessmen always look forward. there is going to be a day going forward when horse-racing will be bigger than slot machines.

i know its very hard to see now, because the game looks pretty dead now. but i have seen another sport that was deep down underground with its neck in the the sand, that was the NBA. the year the SEATTLE SUPERSONICS played the WASHINGTON BULLETS, CBS network threatened to drop coverage of the sport because of poor ratings. the attendance numbers were awful, and they couldn't get people interested in the game.

the same thing happened with baseball in the early 1970's.

it is very easy to take the stand that this game is on fumes and more race tracks need to be closed. i look at it the opposite way, where the game has no place to go but up, and in 20 years there will be more racetracks open than today.

so ROBERT, while you are taking a very popular view, it doen't mean its the right one

And while they're at it, how about tweaking the rail on the turf course so that the distances of turf races are no longer 50 feet more than the advertised distance?

Those floors are unbelievably tough to walk across and are like rolling hills.
I find myself swerving and tripping on them.
The floors have to go !

The project will be a great boon to the local economy.

they used to have a salad called the "gyro's salad". it was made by the same chef that worked at "gyro's restaraunt" which was on on the corner of hanover st and atlantic avenue in the north end years ago. the salad was great, they don't make it there any longer.
