Apparently this has been know for a while but it is new to me.
A new war driving tool named reaver can crack WLANs and obtain the security tokens via a brute force attack. It exploits holes in the implementation of WPS (no not win-place-show).
From what I've read so far, the good news is simply turning off WPS on the router eliminates the risk.
