Yesterday I was looking at the Super High Five at Arlington Park. I checked the DRF race results for Race 10 where the SH5 was ran on Sat.

Here is what it stated.

$1 Super High Five (6-2-3-5-1) Paid: $12,480.90 Carryover Pool $379,387.00

Question, if it paid yesterday $12,480.90 then how come there is a carryover of over 300k today?

Thx for clearing this up.

This is a "jackpot" Super High Five so it will only payout the carryover pool if there is 1 winning ticket. If there are multiple winning tickets like yesterday, where there were 3 winning tickets then 1/2 of the day's pool is paid out to the winning tickets and the rest is added to the carryover pool.

The super hi 5 jackpot hasn't paid out to that only 1 winner since the meet began. Arlington does the same jackpot style with their 10 cent Pk9 and that was just hit recently for $77k(1 winning ticket) with no winner of any race in the sequence paying more than $9.

Now it's up to $422K

It's worth playing now IMO with the daily pool in the $60-75k range.

Sunday's pool was $100,000.

Wouldn't be shocked to see this carryover until the final day of the meet with the jackpot style bet here, $778,070 carryover for friday.

An effective 57.5% takeout rate and extremely difficult to hit. Not my kind of bet.

Amazing, right? That was fun!

The good news is that considering we've only be racing since May, it should be able to build back up again pretty quickly.

If people understood anything about take, they would realize what a ripoff this bet is for everyone that plays it, other than the winner today, who I doubt was a handicapper.

I think Brad Free on HRTV was talking about what a bad bet this is the other day.

of course it's a bad bet,ya gotta pick the first 5...Brad Free
should remember he hit a pick 6 on a $20 dollar ticket....does that sound "Logical"!

Exactly. It's a total gimmick bet and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. It's not meant for serious investing/playing, it's meant for gambling and fantasy and dreaming and stabbing.

Somebody sure stabbed right today and I hope they spent less than 5 bucks doing so - that would make it even more exciting!

I think it's a lot of fun as long as you take it for what it is.

i agree....my long shot key horse was 5th...you've got a better chance with SH5 than the lottery..you won't beat this game playing 5-2 horses.
