Race 9:

I'm placing a $5 WIN bet on the :9: simply b/c that one will leave me short in the P4 the rest of the way, and if he wins I can at least get back some of the initial investment.

$51 for the Preakness P4 sequence so far.

Race 9

How about an Exacta Box for the :1: :5: :9: . I do like the :9: as a winning proposition in here with this group however.

Good Luck to all today and may all of the horses and Jockeys run and come home safe.

Yeah I think a 1-5-9 box would make alot of sense. I actually kinda hope the :9: loses to keep more of my tickets alive, but he can't knock me out of the P4, so I won't complain if he tops this bunch.

Kinda good news/bad news there in R9.............

GOOD NEWS: Got a game winner home at 8-1 with Rosario in the Irons. I'm guessing that I got some legit separation with that ticket.

BAD NEWS: I'm 2 x 3 x 1 the rest of the way in the Pick 4, which is not undoable by any means, but surely leaves less wiggle room. Assuming that I make it to R11 (where I've got the :3: :7: :11: ) I'll probably have to hedge a bit more.

Oh well, I'll take an $18-ish winner to kick off a $1 MILLION Pick 4 any day.

View from the Race 10 Toteboard:

I'm definitely happy to see the :5: getting so much action, and I'm sure it'll come on the :2: as well.

I'm CONSIDERING covering the :8: in this spot as well, but haven't done so yet.

(EDIT: I went ahead and put $19 on the :8: which I realize is a weird amount, but that makes the math easier as my total outlay on this little adventure is now $70 on the dot.)

The :5: survived Race 10, which was nice, and so I have the :3: :7: :11: alive for R11.

I considering hedging again, but here's the thing: My only opinion in this race was that those 3 horses are good enough to beat the field. If someone beats them, then I guess that's that, because I'm not convinced enough by any of the others to put more money into them.

PLUS..........if I don't hedge here, remain only $70 into the thing, and survive with that ticket to the Preakness, then I might have a chance to profitably cover some of the others. If I get too cute here, it just might be a lost cause.

EDIT: If I lose to the :9: in Race 11, then I guess I just lose. Can't cover everything.

Good Luck P4th.

FWIW, I did a $5 EB on the :7: :11: in this race.

Sorry.

Went ahead and made a little Daily Double saver that keeps me deep in R11 and still alive very strongly to Bodemeister in the Preakness:

:4: :5: :9: :10: w :7: @ $5 combos = $20

That makes us basically $90 into the nose of Bodemeister, so here's to hoping that the payoff is at least better than the 2-1 you can get on him to win!!

Ticket 3:

:2: :7: :9:
:2: :5:
:3: :7: :11:
:7:

$9

Well, this little $9 ticket is alive for $163 and change. Bad news is that the total invested means I'll only get a $70 profit if Bodemeister makes it. That's kind of sad, to be honest, so I'll just stand pat and enjoy :7: vs. the world.
