Anyone else play from here? I'm up late at night and there are always Aussie races happening every night. Are there any good tips or sites you can recommend for a rookie?

The 20 cent superfecta intrigues me and I want to play and win more, but I need a good tipster for handicapping a very foreign race style.

I almost play every night. I like their cards, but it can get a little rough at times.

I'm dabbling with Australian right now as I type because it's past midnight here. I totally agree it's pretty damn difficult. Just about everyone I've spoken to at the track tell me they avoid Australia simply because it is the hardest of them all. Either that or nobody from here has a strong understanding of it.

When I play Australia, I mostly look at the purse money they have been running for and what type of track (M,P,C). Then I look to see the record at the distance, track, and over the type of going the track is listed at.

If the announcers,on the broadcast, declare the horse you bet on a "roughie",or "market mover" consider that a kiss of death.
Aussie's mostly turf,no meds, throw out speed figs, consider class/condition instead.Horses are raced into shape, and not babied as much, make many more starts generally than a similar animal in the U.S.
The courses are asymmetrical ,breakdowns are rare, and racing officials keep a very close eye on things.
For late night cappers, these are pools to jump into as there are usually big fields, and prices come home frequently.
