Congressional Hearings for Race Day Meds Today Monday April 30, 2012

You've probably seen a news item for today that Congress is conducting hearings for Race Day Meds.

What you may not know is that a Bill has been introduced in both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives that would amend the Interstate Horse Racing Act. The Bill would eliminate race day meds and establish a "three strikes and you're out" penalty system for violators.

If HANA was doing its job (Policing), why would congress hold hearings? Besides, congress seldom enforces what they enact anyway, why worry? Let them fight for spotlight for a few days. Remember this is an election year.

Just how in hell is HANA supposed to police anything? Under what authority?

This is an organization of volunteers. They give their time freely and they get nothing for it. They do a pretty damn good job of representing us, despite being without any support whatsoever from the so called "press" in racing. They have budget of almost nothing and they use their biggest weapon pretty effectively. Making us aware. Explaining things and pointing the finger at wrongs.

That's about all they got. How are they supposed to police anything?

what congress is doing is something the game itself should have done years ago. but the use of clenbeuterol mixed with unknown substances is another story that needs to be dealt with.

How far has this gone? The FTC doing the enforcing?


If a national bill goes through, it sure will damper the 'Big Trainer Lukas' model of hundreds of horses racing around the world, from one trainer.
