Saw this on The Derby List-

Subject: Race 6 Aqu tomorrow: Botched chart

Ted said, "Equibase chartcaller took a nap during the 4th at Aqu on Nov 20th,
principally affecting BOUNDRY BAY, the 8/5 favorite in tomorrow's 6th at
Aqu.

The original chart had him 30 lengths back at the first call, the TSN
condensed PP's have him 20 lengths back. Neither one is remotely correct. As
I see it he was about 7 lengths back at the quarter call, 2 lengths back at
the half and stretch, and one back at the finish.

So, his second quarter was actually in a boring 24 and 1/5, rather than the
19 and change suggested in the original chart, and sub-21 in the PP's.

You would think that they would have software to catch this kind of goof. "

I did not see this race myself, so you'll be taking his word for it.

Boundary Bay lost as the favorite today. Beyers also looked inflated and run line and times didn't make sense to me so I threw him out.

This is an information game so you always have to worry about GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.

At our Aqueduct get together, we all tossed this guy. Using the beta Formulator, it was easy to pull up the chart of the race that also lists the next race and finishing position of the horses who have run. Several had run, including the runner up and the show horse, with none hitting the board. These were NY breds, so if that fig was legit, even the also rans would have been serious contenders. Making figures for a muddy surface is the hardest thing to do in figure making in my opinion, and I'm always skeptical of them.
