Ok, getting close to video watching time..........
anybody care to chime in with the most visually impressive win?
Would also like to maybe hear about some horse that might have suffered a terrible trip? Always like to hear about bad trips..........
I would say the most visually impressive has to be Bodemeister. He ran out of the screen.

Yeah pretty sure Bode is going to be the overwhelming choice.Maybe a better question would be "Who ran the 2nd most visually impressive race?"I guess I would say Hansen in the Gotham of those still contending or else it would be Algorithms Holy Bull.

Looks like no problem with the distance either, but i am wondering if they would have liked to have saved that one until his next race?
I see he is very lightly raced, maybe he gets better?

Hope so.
It could pay us (I think it bears repeating) to approach each of these triple crown races with *clean hands and composure,* awaiting works going forward, the very freshest info, post parade & warm-ups--plus closing odds, naturally enough.
That said, I am one who's kept Bodemeister at the top of my list since mid February. He may be just the colt finally to Put Paid to this "unraced at two" bugbar, about which we've read so much.
Looks to have a realistic chance, barring mishap, to dethrone the reigning 3-crown champ, AFFIRMED (may God rest his bones). And as before, I:
"Don't know that he has to lead this fray. I'm looking for Bodemeister to get a stalking postion, cruise to the front, build up a cushion, fend off charges, then move clear for the win."
Bodemeister was the most impressive visually. Maybe figuratively, too.....I'll wait for the CJs to come out Friday

2nd best, the forgotten horse. I'll Have Another in the Santa Anita Derby. He refused to lose to Creative Cause.

CREATIVE CAUSE in the San Felipe. He made a very wide move around the turn and put away Bodemeister! I think he's the best closer in the race. CC will be my key horse!

I thought Gemologist was impressive. He was used very wide first turn chasing a pretty fast pace trying to get a contending position and then was wide again 2nd turn making his winning move. Finally, when Alpha came to him, it looked like he was going to blow right by him, but Gemologist found a slightly better gear to hold him off and then went out really well after the wire.
The subsequent performance by the Lumber Guy kind of supports the quality of Gemologist's trip and the race itself.
The biggest problem is going to be getting the 10F in a race loaded with speed/presser types. He may get an even tougher trip next time & it will be 10F with a boatload of other horses to hold off. Then again, a lot of the major contenders face the same possibility.

Bodemeister has the two most impressive races so far. Both his maiden win and his Ark Derby win were spectacular. He went fast early AND late in both wins.
El Padrino's allowance win over Take Charge Indy was very impressive, along with Creative Cause catching Bodemeister in the San Felipe.

Dullahan had quite a sustained run to him in a very fast time for the race. when was the last time hanson got run down? I think he is the one to beat now at 1 1/4 miles. reminds me a bit of both forego and temperance hill.

I would say Creative Cause in the San Felipe, was gobbling up the ground late and galloped out a pole in front of Bodemeister. Also Hansen in the Gotham, caught wide on the lead around the first turn yet still dominated and galloped out very strongly.

Don't forget, Bodemeister wasn't actully trained up to San Felipe Stakes. ("Fed Biz" had been tageted for that start, before his injury.)
The San Felipe therefore amounted to a work--wth pay, for Bodemeister. Yet the classy colt with the sideways blaze was able to make a close race of it, a race for which he was obviously UNderconditioned.
Creative Cause, it should be noted was definitely primed for the San Felipe and was driving hard for the win. Where Bode stopped, and "was tired"; C.C. "galloped- out strongly" (to celebratory Oohs and Aahs).
But, under the circumstances C.C. and, by extension a nose-better Santa Anita Derby victor, I'll Have another, haven't made the bold leap forward that Bodemeister showed us, in his most visually impressive Arkansas Derby.

The more I watch the Wood Memorial........the more I admire Hansen.
I think that might be one that would be hard to duplicate. That may have been his best race...........in his career.

Do you mean Gemologist? Or were you referring to the Gotham? Hansen wasn't in the Wood.

Creative cause was on a 1 turn to 2 turn stretchout 2nd off a layoff. He wasn't pushed in the SA Derby to catch a loose on the lead horse because of the earnings box alone.I think the speed figure was less bounce than just more intent elsewhere.I think the sun, moon, and stars are lining up for this horse.

I meant the Bluegrass. I was watching both races in the wee hours
I am very impressed with Hansen but dont think 10f will be his friend and he might regress off a huge effort
