Along with the thrill of Bubba Watson's terrific recovery shot on the tenth hole during the playoff,
this year's Masters tournament will have lasting memories for other reasons.
The club traditionally offers customary membership to the head sponsor's chief executive.
This year, however, IBM's Virginia (Ginny) Rometty did not receive that offer, due to the fact that she is a woman.

Being a private club, you can argue that Augusta National can do as it pleases.
Conversely, the golf tournament that is held there each April reaches far beyond that part of the world, and is regarded as the pinnacle within the sport of golf.

In an era when we may see a woman president during our lifetime, is it time for a sponsor, such as IBM,
to take a stand against Augusta National?
Or, should that private club remain a place where time stands still?

Should the Girl Guides of America let boys in??

I see nothing wrong in "Men Only" clubs.
Nothing is stopping women from purchasing their own golf course and having a women only membership.
If Augusta wants to change it's membership criteria to include women, that is up to them. In the meanwhile I have no beef against their membership policy.

It maybe their right, but it makes them look silly and petty. They get live in spotlight for a week each year because a great traditional golf tournament. . The rest of the year, they are just a bunch of pathetic old rich men that the world has past by. They think they something special, but they are not. It is the golf tournament that's something special inspite of them not because of them.

I would think that they should be changing along with the times.

The woman in question is CEO of a major sponsor which has historically been brought into their membership. To not follow that tradition, specifically because the person in that position is a "woman", is in poor taste and morally reprehensible.

They are special because they keep the course and tournament special. You will play by their rules or you can go home. I like that.

Personally, a lot of the stuff outside of the golf disgusts me. That whole presentation in the cabin is nauseating. That said, they can do what they want.

Speaking of Membership, I would have bet my last dollar that at the end of his career, they would have offered Tiger Woods membership at Augusta simular to how Arnie and Jack are members - Now, given Tigers sorted past, I don't think they will.
