only 8 races. What gives? Don't want to complain much since field size is good.

I would imagine they didn't want to overdo it before the big races this weekend. They want more races and big fields on the big days, and it makes a lot of sense.

They're running 12 on Saturday. That's why they went light on Wednesday.

Correct.

I haven't seen them do this since I've been going. I like it. Will make for a great Saturday card on Bluegrass day.

Twelve Races along with Keeneland's legendary Tailgate tradition will make it a war of attrition for many party-goers.
Labor Day weekend @Saratoga usually has 11-12 races carded,& by the 10th race the Picnic Area resembles Woodstock-Day 3 for many that have been pounding Brews under the sun and heat for 6-7 hours. Ontrack, being an old fart now, i set 3PM as my "Happy Hour" time, aboout 5-10min. before 5th when i crack open my first Silver Bullet of the day. (LAst ONe? Sometime after midnite, either at Saratoga Gaming, or Poolside @TopHillMotel with a Fat Cigar under the moonlight)

The point was that several tracks have gone to 8 race cards during the week, which is still better than the old days.
