On Friday, to make up for a canceled card earlier in the week, Fair Grounds will be running an 18 race card, beginning at 12:40 PM and concluding at 9:45 PM. The highlight? The 10 cent Pick 18 (yes, a Pick 18).
Playing a 2^18 ticket on that bad boy will cost you $26,214.40. Good luck.
Saturday will feature a 12 race card, and Sunday will have 14 races, highlighted by the Louisiana Derby.
So in 3 days, they will have 44 races. That's what I call a long weekend.

At first i thought this was an April Fool's joke, but then i checked the entries.
A Pick 18!?

Who is the dark haired lady that highlighted the post position draw? Is she new or did she replace Katie Molkay?
How will Dooley call so many races in 3 days.

You will probably need some singles somewhere in that sequence.
Cool. I took Friday afternoon off to do yard work.
Now I have an excuse NOT to!

Does anyone know if that will require a mandatory payout as it will not be repeated - I don't think they could carry it over?????????????????
might be worth a few dimes......lol

Yeah, i have my ticket narrowed down to this:
2x1x1x3x1x1x2x3x3x2x3x5x1x1x3x2x3x3
Wonder if Steve Crist has any bright ideas about playing this one

By the way, the above ticket would cost $17,496 for a dime...
But seriously, how many correct choices do you think the winning ticket will have?
I'm bettin no more than 10.

"A lot of race, that."
I'm putting in some tickets on the P18....right after I bring peace to the Middle East, cure cancer, and dance with the Beulah Twins.:D
By my calculations, THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD COULD ONLY COVER 1 IN 10,000,000 COMBINATIONS.

I wonder if they'll have special windows, or how many, if any, other tracks will offer that up. How would you like to be trying to get a quick bet down on the Double and be behind someone calling out that bet?
"Now, was that 1-2-4 in the thirteenth leg or the fourteenth?"
"The thirteenth was a a single; the 1-2-4 is the fourteenth."
"Well, then what was the thirteenth?" "A Single!" "A single what?"
"Let's just clear this and start all over...." :bang:

What do you predict the pool will be?
My guess $7,000.
I hope I'm wrong and that my guess is low.

I still can't believe they're serious with this bet. Unless they made a guaranteed half a million prize, who would invest anything remotely capable of hitting this thing when the pool very well may be under 10k.
Even with a $100 investment you'd have a better chance of being struck by lightning than picking more than 5 or 6 winners.

My guess is less. It's a foolish bet, especially at 25% takeout.

Will it be a last man standing type ticket or pay down to 15 or 16?

Anyone who plays this expecting to hit all 18 is crazy, I would play expecting 12 to be good enough to take it all.

I'm just amazed that the folks at FG saw fit to offer this ridiculous bet, but we can't offer a national pick 3 or pick 5.
The old national p3 on the Wood Mem, Blue Grass and Arkansas Derby was a neat idea imo. Loved playing it. Too bad these big races are all spread out nowadays.

I also think you couldn't bet at the tellers for this particular bet, machine only. At least that is what I was told.

I was very proud to include my $6.40 into that pool. I'm a part of history. BTW I was 6 for 18. A batting average of .333. It was the equivalent of an all day SUCKER!
