Not sure how serious as reports are just coming out.

All heart attacks are serious. Surviving the first 48 hours is a somewhat positive but not definitive sign.

OMG, how awful! It sounds like he's doing ok, though. Totally sucks to have that happen....even more so when you're in another country. Prayers for a speedy recovery!

Phantom, one doesn't want to have open heart surgery in a foreign country, not even a rich one. A friend had 4 stents put in place a while back--less than a year later, he was hurting in his chest again. He was admitted, this time, in need of open heart surgery to repair the arteries. Two of the stents had failed. He's doing great now, but stents don't always solve the problems of blockages.

"Prayers for you, Bob. Wish you'd pass on attending the DWC. Your life is far, far more important than a horse race."

Then again, maybe not.
"When you take aspirin, the level of stomach protection is decreased and you're more likely to bleed. Thus, people who take aspirin regularly -- even in a buffered or coated form -- will have roughly double the likelihood of having a perforated ulcer or bleeding in the GI tract," explains Fendrick. "Relatively little attention is paid to this problem that kills more people in the U.S. each year than asthma or cervical cancer.

The latest is that the risk seems to lessen as time goes on. After 2 years it appears to be almost non existent. You can survive a bleeding ulcer (been there, done that) and you will have symptoms that you can then make a decision about. The benefits seem to outweigh the risks now

some of the numbers in the latest study are pretty unbelievable, but seem solid.

I used to take an aspirin every day. Gave it up a few years back. Restarted about 3 months ago. Crossing my fingers......

"I want to thank my wonderful wife Jill who convinced me I was having a heart attack and called paramedics"

Glad she did and glad Bob seems to be getting better as time passes.

Those trans-continental flights are a bitch, most ppl don't realize how dangerous they are and how often clots form. My parents just had a friend suffer a stroke as soon as he got off a plane on a return flight home from a vacation in Italy.

It's a ways off but they are working on a new form of asprin that reduces the nasty side effects. Cancer fighter as well.

If Sheihk Mo called in the best cardiac surgeon he could get for Bob--as was mentioned. Hopefully, Sheihk Mo will fly Bob and Jill home on one of his finest private aircraft with a doctor and nurse on board.

Its obvious, Sheihk Mo and Bob like one another, and, no doubt, Sheihk Mo knows how much Bob means to us.

Friendship is a good thing, even when worlds apart.

This is a great part of why Bob's so loved. The man's good at his job, championing the sport he works in everyday. He has a beautiful wife and children, he's got wonderful charm and best of all--a sense of humor to boot. ....Think the world of him, don't see how anyone could not.

Maybe his ex-wife?

Now, this is quite true. But, hopefully not. Some of us don't have those kinda problems 'cause we're nice, we're loyal, we remember what was shared. Our "former spouses" still care 'cause there's "long history".

With this noted, words lived by. -- There are three things to leave off the table in divorce: hate, greed, and stupidity. Without them, we remain friends, always; with them, we're nothing more than another's worst nightmare, forever. Life is too short for such ugliness. --
