first, he didn't insinuate that America would be better off with Obama, he said;

“You win by giving people a choice. You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there. If you’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate of the future,”

he insinuates that voters may decide to stick with Obama if they only perceive a small difference between him and Romney.

Second, cursing a a NY times reporter who deliberately distorts your words is a healthy sign. We need more of that.

The insinuation is pretty clear. "The Devil you know is better than the Devil you don't know."
Santorum's remarks suggest that "We might as well stay with Obama than risk going with Romney."

He backtracked on that comment the next day.

I thought it was a fairly obvious insinuation... apparently some on here don't...

Swearing at people during press conferences though...

Santorum, like any other desperate politician running for office with absolutely no chance of winning, continues to 'thread the needle' between saying bombastic statements against the obvious victor, and stepping those statements back because he 'went too far.'

It's obvious to anyone with a brain what's he's accomplishing. Simply looking like a fool.

Yeah, there's wisdom in that old adage. Also, I've often said that I would prefer walking a mile with a guy I know is my enemy than a few hundred feet with one who pretends is my friend.

It wasn't a press conference either.

This by the way is the same reporter that a few years ago at a prime time press conference asked Obama "what has enchanted you most about being in this office."

Personally I don't care much for Santorum, but with an enemy of the state holding office now I can't get too worked up because of a curse word.

you can't seriously be implying that Romney could possibly be more of an enemy to the country than Obama, are you? I'm with you as far as that he is not genuine, a Rino, etc. But I highly doubt that his goal is a weaker country or that his foreign policy goal would be to install radical Islamist regimes throughout the mideast.

I can't see any big deal with using the word "bullsh_t." He's better off blowing off a little steam health-wise anyway IMO.

Actually, if Santorum wasn't off the reservation in so many ways, I could almost like the guy. But he is.

And no - I don't feel like listing things I find nutty about him. But I will say that with Santorum what you see is what you get. The guy is genuine - that's for sure.

(No offense to the members of the Romney Fan Club. By the way, your dues are due! :D )

But Santorum is conservative.
He's so conservative, he pulled a muscle and refused to use Ben Gay.
He's so conservative, he refuses to eat a bone-in Rib Eye Steak.
He's so conservative, he won't shop at Dick's Sporting Goods.
He's so conservative, you can only rub him the wrong way.
He's so conservative, he won't even let UPS handle his package.

I don't believe that is what I said. That is what you think I said...or maybe what you think I meant. In either case, you're wrong.

...Is that you would rather have BO for another four years than Mitt, because you miszealously believe someone is pretending to be friends with you.

Fact is, I don't think anyone could pass the test to be your friend, Friend.

That's why you got nobody in the fight. Better luck next time.

Rick calls it quits today. It amazing that he lasted this long.I personally think Santorum was the top candidate. If it had reached the point of a brokered conventon, I think he would have come out the winner. Have to give him credit, putting his family and I believe the good of the party ahead of his own asperations.

Too bad we can't say the same for Gingrich!

My long-ago prediction of a Romney/Santorum ticket now looks totally remote. These guys hurled some vicious crap at each other for the past few months. Santorum will be hoping for four more years of BO, so he can come in as a white knight in '16 (though he'll probably have to fend off Rubio then).

It's occasionally stunning to me how ignorant the general electorate is on how politics work. Obama & HClinton were involved in a bitter battle and she's his SoS.

The fact that a guy who lost his last election by 18 points was ever even considered by anyone shows how devoid the GOP is of viable candidates. The GOP of today reminds me of the democratic party of the 70s and 80s. Every two years it elects a bunch of young of what appears to be promising candidates to be governors and senators. As soon they set their foot on the national stage, they fizzle. After the Obama's election, the GOP was touting the likes of Mark Sanford, Bobby Jindal, Charley Crist and Haley Barbour. They got their 15 minutes and were found wanting. In an election cycle where the incumbent president might be vulnerable, the best they could come up with is a recycled Mitt Romney, a younger version of McCain. That says a lot about the state of the GOP today.

Robert,
The GOP is just fine, in the end it will step on the worthless bedbugs who support this left leaning filth and let Europe be the place for you. I think we as a country can save social security, in my mind it is not socialism but really a contract with our people. I do think that it is wrong to continue to spend at this rate because there will never be enough taxes the government could levy against the so called rich just to pay today's levels of spending. I say it again, you guys are smoking too much dope to think the math lies. The math is very exact in that it points to your way of thinking as a loser, plain and simple.
