Gold Megillah runs tomorrow in the Rushaway at TP. I'm curious since there's not yet a morning line, and I thought this horse didn't have the smoothest of trips last out. Whats even more interesting was the chart caller for the DRF made no mention of what I perceived as trouble.

GM was actually having a good trip; saved ground early, saved ground for a portion of the second turn before coming out a bit. In the stretch he never checked or even appeared to steady. The trouble was more subtle. He was stuck very tight in between horses. The horses to his left and right were slightly in front of him. IMO, it appeared he was intimidated a bit and didn't want to try to squeeze thru. Larry Colmus did notice the same thing, noting the horse was trying to squeeze thru (although in reality, it appeared GM was in position to squeeze thru, but was intimidated). He went on to finish 3rd but can't help but wonder if he would've won had he been outside horses.

Seen that the likely heavy favorite is coming off a big fig dirt debut win sprinting at GP, it might be a good opportunity to shoot against the heavy chalk.

Morning line just came out: Gold Megillah only 3-1. Really expected lower than 5-2 on Flashy Dresser, the horse off the big fig debut win on GP dirt. But morning lines at TP have not always been known to be extremely accurate.

The horse ran very well, IMO, in the Rushaway. Nobody else could gain any ground as speed basically finished 1-2-4. Gold Megillah made up nearly 4 lengths in the final 1/8th. He didn't project to be a Derby horse anyways but have to think he's earned a shot to go in the Blue Grass on the Poly again.

The Rushaway looks like its not a bad race at all. Flashy Dresser won the Charles Town stake Saturday night despite a ton of traffic and trouble, and Gung Ho ran a big race in the Blue Grass. When all is said and done, the Rushaway may have had a better field than the Spiral, which was run later that day.

If you box the top and bottom horses in the Lexington tomorrow, you get the "Megillah Guerilla" exacta........... ;)
