I found it a toe tapper.

I ran into a sublime performance of Caberet from some schlub named Jimmy Schwatzman. Ya never know when you're gonna bump into semi-professional talent.

Got :41 seconds into Cabawreck and tried to stop it. Had to leave the thread to make him stop.

Still better than the destruction of a classic Sly tune.

Twenty-seventh verse, same as the first
Wha'chu talkin' 'bout? They tore that up!

Sure it's repetitive but that's what they do in Choich.

Raised a DEE-VOUT Lutheran, repetition is the name of the game. Every Sunday, the same snappy repartee.

Pastor would say "And may you, bla, bla, bla." Two witch the ConGregAtion would respond "And also with you."

Even as a kid I ad libbed and ran with "SAME TO YOU, BUB"

They say when Sly was on, it was somethin'. Wrote some nice material.

He looks a little like a young Arnold Schwartzenegger (or however you spell it).

They probably thought they sounded pretty good when they were rehearsing in the basement at 2 AM the night before the gig stoned out of their brains on cheap Mexican weed. :D

This is what it sounds like without divine inspiration. It's actually heavenly.

Speaking of bad covers... I did this very one for a HS battle of the bands. I was dragged in a few days before the show when it was discovered that the guitarist actually couldn't sing while playing.

I knew the song but had no idea what the lyrics were. I listened to it 1000 times and got an approximation. I never sang one verse accurately, but nobody ever knew. Mine were better...

Flamin' eyes of people fear
Burnin' into you
Many men are missin' much
Hatin' what they do
Youth and truth are makin' love
Dig it for a starter, now
Dyin' young is hard to take
Sellin' out is harder

Became:

Crazy eyes, laser thighs,
burning into you,
he gets play from all the babes
and not a thing they can do
You and Lou were makin love
Did it ever harder now
Diane Young is hard to take
Sellin' her is harder

Pink Floyd and Steely Dan are two bands who should never be covered...no one can do a good job, esp with Steely Dan songs.

Heard a wedding band try to cover Dan's "Deacon Blues"...painful man.

Peter Mossman (Out Of Phase) produced several Pink Floyd tribute albums. I have one - The Wall 2000 - which is excellent.

A tribute album is one thing, but to cover them live (with no studio engineering tricks) isn't an easy thing to do.

Did Peter Mossman tour and do live shows?
If so, then he must be good.
If not....

Saw Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon tour. During Careful with that Axe Eugene, they set off a magnesium flare that blinded everyone in the audience for about
30 seconds. Scared the shit out of me. I will never forget it.

Jimmy Fallon had a week where he had different bands cover Pink Floyd songs and I thought they all did a phenomenal job. Pearl Jam covered Mother and The Foo Fighters did In The Flesh with Roger Waters.
