Here's a feel good betting story this week from overseas:

The yard he works for was on fire at the Cheltenham festival this week.
He placed the bet in December at higher futures odds. Wow!

Guy pulled a Boesky with insider infomation.

I cry foul, but then I'm rarely serious.

David Williams of Ladbrokes estimated that at that time Sprinter Sacre would have been around 7-1, Simonsig 20-1, Bobs Worth 6-1, Finian's Rainbow 12-1 and Riverside Theatre 16-1 for accumulated odds of 259,895‑1.

An especially clever feature of the bet is that it anticipated Simonsig would run in the Neptune Novice Hurdle, as he eventually did, at a time when most people expected him to take part in a different race at the Festival.

You're not off the mark there, BM.
The difference with betting over there is that it's you against the bookie.
Who has the best inside info? ;)

I believe the bet was in the ante-post market (futures), so I doubt there will be too much of a problem.

In my 20s, I worked with the spokesman for bet365.com (Pat Cooney) in Ireland.

Nice guy - he put an odds line on Irish races for our boss, the late Sean Graham.

I don't know much about English racing but this seems akin to picking the Kentucky Oaks, all 3 triple crown winners plus the winner of the Breeder Cup Classic in April. Of course you are doing this BEFORE you know which horses will be in the race.

This guy deserves every penny.
