The following story statement by Bill Finley is in error.

"Sonoma State will be the first college ever to compete on the hardwood, the diamond, the turf and the dirt." (Well maybe not, they don't have a turf course at Finger Lakes Racetrack in NY.)

SUNY-Morrisville in New York State, part of the State University system of New York has been racing both thoroughbred (at Finger Lakes) and harness horses at various racetracks for years and under the college name. Many horses are bred and trained right on campus! They even have one of the best standardbred horses sales events around Labor Day each year. And they have been successful in winning thoroughbred races at Finger Lakes in recent years.

Some of the students go on to the more celebrated equine school at the University of Arizona to complete their four year equine related degrees.
