I have never been in a racebook in Las Vegas. Can someone explain to me the racing programs they have. I understand they may not all provide the same thing but generally can you buy Daily Racing Forms or simulcast program books? Do they comp them? Do they have them in a centralized location for everyone to use?

Thanks,

Simple answer - it varies.

All should supply scratch sheets for all tracks they offer.
Comping DRFs is not the same policy from book to book.
Some places want a certain high level player's card, others will tally your action and base it on that total.

Simulcast books are available at Harrah's properties free of charge.
I'm not sure how many other books have them.

In the past, many books had a form for general use secured to a table.
Not sure who still does that.
You can definitely meet some interesting characters reading those papers!

Good luck!

Haven't been to Vegas for over a year but when I go I usually stay at the Luxor or Mandalay Bay. They gave the DRF for free as long as you were staying in their hotel. Sometimes they ask to see your room key and sometimes they would just believe you.

The Orleans charges 2.00 for the form but will give you a refund at the end of the day. This is my fav book.

The M will give you a form if you register with their supervisor and prove you are betting. The M does not own the Sports Book and it receives a lot of customer service complaints about the non-friendly attitude of the SPorts Book management. Last visit I was challenged when I asked for the form. The supervisor said he hadn't seen me betting even though I was registered with them. He gave me a form for the next day which I exchanged with a teller when he disappeared.

The Sports Book at SouthPoint will give you a form and provide good customer service.

The gold coast is the same deal at orleans for the form, so I assume all coast properties handle it the same way.

Most places will charge you for a Daily Racing From, from 1 to 3 bucks.

A lot of places also provide printed booklets of the BRIS or Equibase forms and those are free.

Of course, if you are a good player or get to know the racebook staff, they'll probably comp you the DRFs.

Yes they are Equibase booklets, but most of the local casinos don't use them.
