In the 4th race at laurel today, race 4, there was a favorite named Dial Direct. I sat out the race because 6-5 is not anywhere close to odds i would ever take on a mdn claimer. However I decided to watch to see her win. Well late in the stretch run Victor Santiago loses his whip then grabs his goggels off and uses them to urge the horse home. I've never seen this before and it even shows up in the drf-pdf chart

Has anyone else seen this before?

I wonder what the maximum times a rider can hit the horse with their goggles is in Europe.

They may have to make a new rule because of this.

Oh yeah I forgot to add in that question: can a rider be penalized for hitting the horse with their goggles? :D

There was a ride that stood out to me recently, I think it was Tanner Riggs at Hawthorne, who used his hand. Not to hit the horse but to stimulate waving the whip in front of his eyes. I think he lost the whip at the 1/16 pole or maybe top of the stretch. The horse won.

I've seen a jock at FG use his helmet cover to urge the horse on.
He lost his whip, slipped the cover off his helmet and slapped away.
He lost.

Recently in Australia a jockey grabbed another jock's whip when he dropped his own.
He lost, too.

The jockey CAN USE either the goggles or the actual cloth cap to start whipping a horse without any racing infraction being made
