stewards have to decide what to do
don't throw away any tickets
There will be two refunds for sure-- the horse that broke through and the other one that was being held by the ass't starter.

A gate malfunction? Another thread in the General Handicapping Discussion section says that half the horses didn't start.
What happened?
Mayhem at the start. This could actually be one of those "no contest" jobs that we talked about after the CT fiasco on Thursday.

no contest. The 3 broke thru gate before latch sprung, so asst starters held on.

Called it a no contest, I had Crossing The Line in the Showviver contest. Curious what they will do about that.

Santa Anita officals declare Race 3 .... NO CONTEST...all tickets refunded.

NO CONTEST is the best and fairest call to all imo.
Glad they made that decision

3/3/2012 Santa Anita Race 3 was declared a no contest.....#3 Muny broke threw the gate a split second before the starter released the gate doors....asst starters of #1, #2, and #4 held on to their horses...thus the ruling an unfair start...no contest.
Rolling wagers at Santa Anita that involve Race 3...all seven (7) horses are considered a WINNER per Santa Anita Officals for track wagering....no clue about ADW sites.

This was the right call.
Anyone remember about 10 years ago a similar event happened at Los Alamitos? The gates opened before they were all loaded and only 4 of 9 finished.

I used him too and am wondering the same thing although I'd assume everyone who made their pick from R3 is okay...

GGF had a Turf mishap on a wet course back in 1999 or 2000 and over half the field went down. No contest, and I love that rule to be honest... :)
