The first woman to ever call a thoroughbred horserace was named Jan Ciochetti. She was the director for publicity at Hialeah when Tom Durkin was the announcer there.
There is a woman in Canada that calls harness races. I'm sorry I don't know which track or her name. Someone will help with that I'm sure. Perhaps Bog. He's very knowledgeable. And funny too.
I remember a competition in Europe as recently as last year between to females for a calling job at a TB track there.
The dog track in Council Bluffs IA, Bluffs Run, had a female announcer. Don't know if she's still there.
The PA announcer for my hometown SF Giants is female. Does an excellent job.
If memory serves I think Julie Krone also tried calling a race. Not sure about that one.
